He’s the best signing this offseason and what we hoped Heinen would be in the lineup. He looks to be a mainstay in the top 6 until Lekkerimaki matures.

What’s the matter with Heinen? He’s a very good player.

Agree he's the best signing but I don't know why anyone would have expected Heinen to do what Sherwood is doing.

Heinen has been good in his own right but Sherwood has been beyond anyone's expectations.

I think there was this notion that Heinen would slide right into the top 6 with JT and Boeser but I never understood why that seemed like a given. Maybe people are disappointed judging by those expectations but he's done well based on what his actual role should be which is a solid 3rd liner.

Looking at his splits from last season he had 5 goals and 10 points in the first 20 games which is identical to this season with 2 less games played. The next 20 games however he only had 1 assist. He went all of December and January with just 1 assist. So I guess we’ll see.
I can answer that, anytime Sherwood was scoring points he was being centered by Novak on the third line. Novak, Sherwood, and Evangelista started out as a very good line, but Novak was injured in November and ended that line. He would shuffle around and ended up playing his most minutes on the fourth line that consisted of him, McCarron, and Cole Smith. He would get looks with Novak again near the end of the season and put up decent points though.

Since "Woody" is half Japanese (on his mother's side) how about someone start a Haiku thread?

standard Haiku structure is 5 - 7 - 5.

For example .....

Keifer -san forecheck
No escape from F 1 heat
You duck or you run.

I'm sure y'all can do good ones.

That's terribly sappy.

Hurry before I delete it.

..But seriously the pro-sports media hasn't covered the Japan- heritage yet ....

How Sherwood took that dirty wall hit from Eriksson-Ek and bounced back up is a wonder. Clearly the guy was hurting but refused to show it.

Sherwood is as tough as nails--another 10-bell signing by Allvin.

Kiefer Sherwood--so far, the UFA signing of the year in NHL. Preds must be kicking themselves.
In Nashville we wonder WTF you guys are all smoking? Sherwood looked like a borderline NHLer for us. Our lineup sucked, and he did have a tendency to "try hard", so he endeared himself somewhat to coaches (which still wasn't enough to prevent being scratched at times), but nobody here blinked an eye when the Preds didn't retain him. Nobody misses him. Weird that you guys love him so much. Can't imagine this holds up, the guy really doesn't have NHL skills, despite all his commendable effort. And that's coming from a trash team that really could use just about any borderline player out there. FWIW. :dunno:

Lankinen on the other hand...

I mean sometimes a player finds a better fit elsewhere. It's not exactly uncommon. For example, Jalen Chatfield looked like a #8 defenseman without much upside in Vancouver but has been a mainstay in Carolina.

Don't know what to tell ya. Want some of what we're smoking? It's apparently done wonders for Sherwood.

The fact that went uncalled still pisses me off, that was a predatory illegal hit, if Sherwood milks it and stays down and goes to the locker room, it's potentially a 5 minute call, instead we got nothing.

The NHL is headed down a dangerous path by factoring in the result of the hits so heavily. I think you'll see embellishment continue to rise because of it.

Sadly, this is just a fact of life in the NHL. If it had been someone like Matthews, Marner, McDavid or Draisaitl taking a predatory hit like that, Eriksson-Ek would been tossed, and suspended for at least three or four games.

But guys like Sherwood are just deemed to be 'expendable'. The only small consolation is that Eriksson-Ek is now 'out' or at least a week or two with a 'lower body injury'. If there's any justice, the injury happened when he tried to take Sherwood's head off along the end-wall.

It’s strange to hear because we all wanted him on the team from how he played against the Nucks in the playoffs.

Wasn’t he part of your “Identity Line” though? And he put up 10 goals and 27 points for you guys and many of those points came in the 2nd half unlike Lafferty here. Sounds like a legit 4th line player to me who obviously haven’t been given much opportunity.

These things happen. “Nobody” here missed Nic Dowd here at the time we let him go.
