To GG’s credit he gave the kid line the most ES minutes. They are the engine that makes the thing go.

So because we struck out on 2 coaches that means we shouldn’t keep trying to find the right one? It’s a rough patch yes but Gallant sucked last year too even when we were winning. He sucked in the playoffs, and hey sucks now.

How do you quantify him sucking?

Everyone is so hung on line numbers here it's ridiculous. '3rd line' with most ES minutes so is now our 1st line??? Panarin, a top 10 player in the league, is on our 2nd line??? (No and no). Having 3 lines that can score and a 4th that can hem the opponents deep is extremely valuable and better imo than a top heavy 1st line or top 6.

Our PP1 unit is light years ahead of 2nd unit so they get all PP time, and Mika and CK also are big PKers so the vets with skill will always end up with most minutes just because of that. Gallant isn't force feeding the kids minutes but gradually giving them more and more, and letting the vets rest a bit more as well. Hopefully these lines continue to click.

Can't have it both ways. People on the board complain NON STOP when the kids don't put up points. So we complain when others want them to get minutes which would allow them to..,..put up points?

It's not like giving the kid line the most ES minutes is a bad thing. It's been our best ES option since the playoffs.

Kakko and Laf had sufficient time in the "top 6". It didn't click and didn't produce. It's as simple as that, really. Doesn't mean that they're not top 6 players and can't produce top 6 numbers. They just can't do it with those vets.

i dont love everything about gallant and there's things about the way the team plays as well as the way he manages the x's n o's vs other coaches i don't think are tops of the league. but the guy also took the team to the ecf, anyone thats played for him would run through a wall for him, and the season is 14 games in. he knows a thing or two about hockey and coaching in the nhl. people need to calm down and stop looking for a finger to point as soon as we hit a rough patch or he doesn't use the lines they want or someone isn't producing to their expectations because they know with certainty how to change that. everyone just wants to complain. lets see how things play out maybe

I know this team is considered a young team but actually I think the vets are very strong willed. They wouldn't respond to many of the coaches out there, in my opinion. Quinn is too much of a lightweight to hold their attention. Torts wouldn't work at all. Gallant has a good balance that works for this team.

agree, i think by they're still pretty young by league standards, esp on d, but i get your point. there's a bunch of guys who've been around long enough to want to have a say in things or they'll prob check out. personally i think gallant is a good coach, to the point it would be very difficult to upgrade. i get it, he's not perfect, but there's no coach that is. quenneville is the only guy who could be considered an upgrade, but even then you never know how a guy will fit with a team. trotz is also there but i'm not sure how this roster would take to or perform in his structure. outside of that you're rolling the dice on a rising name - that can be a home run but it can also be brian trottier.

but it just shocks me thats something people are actually calling for right now. we're 15 games in off an ecf, and its not like its been a disaster by any means. anyone who wants him gone would find a reason to want to fire the next coach after a year too unless we won like 125 consecutive games. then maybe people would be ok with the coach but we'd def have a few players that needed to go. its either reactive personalities or complaining for the sake of complaining. personally i like gallant, he just seems like a good dude guys love playing for. there's things i disagree with and that would be true no matter who was coaching. the grass isn't always greener tho

Kakko had the 4th most 5v5 ice time. Chytil 5th. Lafreniere 6th.

Zibanejad 10th. Kreider 11th.

I like KK more in the first line; Laffy and Chytil are the real Kid Line / Pair. Find a plug on RW not named Reaves. Or move bread to LW1 and Kreider to RW3.

Kravtsov needs to play like he did his last game and continue to improve if we wanna keep the kid line together. Out of our current roster I'm not sure who goes in the top 6, i dont like Vesey or Gauthier there. Blais by default but i get the feeling that he isnt 100% anyway as they are keeping his minutes limited. We need another RW. Would it kill us to give Pajuniemi a shot? He could join laf and chytil and move Kakko up. Guy has a canon though admittedly i havent watched him this year.
