Wouldn't the only logical choice (hockey-wise) be Ust-Kamenogorsk or whatever the Kazakhs call it?

The place is too small, plus the russians fled from there. Kazakh hockey in general is not a good investment I think, as the russians seem to have no future there - and apparently they are almost all the hockey players.





Also - for other central asian countries - I'm surprised that they even have hockey, that's news to me.

And in my opinion the MHL is the best junior league in Europe, so a Finnish team there would just strengthen it even more.

No, Jokerit juniors will continue to play in their appropriate juniors leagues in Finland. The league schedules are designed to interfere with school in least possible way, A-juniors also have army duties which would make constant travelling abroad impossible.

In that article was also the reason why people are doubting the sponsorship money Harkimo hopes to raise from Finnish businesses:

Well we are neighbours so the logistic side of business is easier than with other countries.

Helsinki gets lots of Russian tourists for example from St. Petersburg area as you can get better quality products from here (their own words) and it's easy and cheap to travel here for example by train.

There hasn't been any online poll that the Swedish posters know of(or they haven't mentioned of such). I repeat, what icing told as FACT, not opinion:

80% of 198 votes said yes to continue the work with the application of joining the KHL. Yup, only 198 people attended and voted. There's about 16 000 members. They decided to have another vote about the definite joining if the swedish federation said yes. About 50% also wanted to wait and see if AIK would be promoted to the SHL (former SEL) - have in mind AIK was playing 2nd tier hockey at the moment and the club economy was dreadful.

The bolded parts are facts, not opinions. AIK are back in Elitserien...err...SHL now.

Actually the price of foreign made products is higher in St.Pete than in Helsinki due to Russian tariffs. This is probably the main reason why Russian tourists come to shop in Finland. They can buy foreign consumer products cheaper in Finland.

I am sorry, but I dont see any RELIABLE source here, only your claims which I respect but Medvedev has more credibility in eyes of general hockey fan. Voting AIK members about joining KHL is not fact, it is not general information. A man needs to support the claims by sending a reliable source. The most reliable source is a legal document about voting signed by an attorney.

I consider voting of AIK in 2009/10 as irrelevant for KHL´s future expansion. What is important is a fact that KHL would like to see swedish club in the league. If there are conditions for swedish KHL club, there will be swedish KHL club.

The "blogger" is a Swedish freelance hockey journalist that works/has worked for Viasat, TT(Swedish news agency), Expressen among others, her focus is on Stockholm based teams. More credited than anyone here.

Seriously, i don't have to prove anything to you. This is common facts and knowledge of the events that happened when AIK voted. Choose to believe it or call me a liar (I bet on option 2). Medvedev exaggerated his "80% of the AIK shareholders voted yes". It was 80% but only 80% of 198 attended members, and there was to be another vote. Fact. Period.

But it means nothing now (except that a fact is a fact) and what KHL has in store for Sweden only time will tell.
