That's what I was thinking. But then the total percent sold out should be higher than what figures suggest - because those games that are at babruysk lower the total capacity of all attended games...

But they've played in Bobruisk in seasons before, too. So it's not them who decrease the season-to-season attendance.

German clubs impressive with attendance, never realized that. Has it always been that way?

Pretty much. Considering they have Allsvenskan level league hockey is a bit of a phenomenon in Germany in that sense - attendance is very good even though the level of play is probably the lowest of all the professional sports in Germany.

Anyone care to put those numbers/teams in the order of the current tables in their leagues? E.g TPS and Kalpa are 14th and 13th in Finland.

1. Zürich: 9'005 (80,40%)
2. Fribourg: 6'558 (97,88%)
3. Kloten: 5'564 (73,59%)
4. Davos: 4'710 (66,53%)
5. Lugano: 5'060 (63,25%)
6. Ambri: 5'715 (81,64%)
7. Genève: 7'781 (108,07%)
8. Lausanne: 6'528 (72,53%)
9. Bern: 16'340 (95,38%)
10. Zug: 6'230 (88,81%)
11. Biel: 4'647 (66,39%)
12. Rapperswil: 4'438 (72,75%)

Note: these are completely wrong because Liiga's statistics are terrible and several games have 0 attendance. For example Jokerit is missing three games and their actual average is around 8600.

Ok thanks, I was a bit worried about Jokerit attendance, I found it really poor.

I hope next year their attendance will still be good.

Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk: 3185 (58%)
Metallurg Novokuznetsk: 2903 (39%)

AVG: 6198 (82%)

I did this using the stats posted earlier in this thread, KHL website (game reports) and Eurohockey.com.

With bigger arenas, new teams arriving, popularity growing, etc. KHL's attendance will increase in the next years. Hopefully around 7k maybe?

Results barely have any effect on attendance in Germany. More people will come for special games and during playoffs but apart of that nobody cares if they are 14th (last) or 1st.

For example Cologne has more or less the same attendances as when they were last couple years ago. Düsseldorf is now last and has the same attendance as when they were first etc etc. Same with Augsburg, Wolfsburg etc

But when you guys look at DEL attenfance please consider the huge variation of arena sizes. For example the arena in Cologne has a capacity of 18,500 so arena looks often empty. Straubing and Augsburg on the other side have only 4500 fans or so and its allmost always sold out.

I'll post KHL's final attendance after the playoffs.

Thanks for the work. I think it has been said before that the game reports on the KHL website are rounded up in some cases so we don't know the exact numbers but never mind that. Admiral should really use the break to put in the last 2000 seats, I'm sure they can fill them.

Yeah they should really do, they can definitely fill 2000 more seats, I think it was a great move by the KHL to put a team in Vladivostok, they seem to be great hockey fans.

I don't remember when I read that, but there were speculations that they were going to build a bigger arena.

its embarrassing that CSKA didn´t even make it to the Top100. From Vitjaz, Spartak, Mettalurg Nk and Jugra I didn´t expect more. This 4 teams should be send to VHL if nothing change in next years. They are just dropping the league average attendence + they wasn´t even close to play-off spots. they enrich the league in zero areas.

But teams like Dynamo Moscow and Ak Bars Kazan still can't fill them.

If every Russian team had 18,000 arenas that wouldn't bring them 18,000 fans for the games.

Some teams would (SKA, SYu, Ava, Amur, Loko)
And I suggest you to have a look at the % of spectators, in many Russian teams it is very high

I thought KHL demanded 14,000+ arenas? :sarcasm: I remember vorky saying KHL wouldn't be interested in teams that didn't have, or was not planning on building such arenas.

it is 12k + but i assume the arenas that are 10k like avangards and slovans are still good. i mean it would be dumb to make them build smtn new just to fit in 2k more people

I believe the figure he was referring to was 12k arenas is the rule. When you look into the future its not so bad

CSKA from 5k to 12k (legends hypothetically)
DYM from 8k to 12k VTB
Donbass from 4k to 13k
Barys 4 to 12k

all of those projects have begun and will be completed within 2 years.

Sibir 7k to 15k
Torpedo from 5k to 15k

are in the planning stages and there was also chatter that SKA was planning a new building. These are baby steps, but slowly, each year the attendance figure will rise. I don't believe that KHL moves into a new team unless there is a plans to build a new arena in the future (exception to Lada).
