Your anti Peterka is such a weird take. How is he redundant, especially on a team struggling to score? For a 4C is an even dumber take. a 4C is worth like a 3rd round pick tops, that is what JJ is worth to you? I keep trying to process your reasoning and all I can come up with is your keyboard is broken and the 3 wont work.
He’s redundant because he phones it in 65% of the time, like the rest of the team.

This guy is a guy I was defending last year. Nothing but downhill.--->

This guy sucks and he didn't help his cause at all today.

Translation: Terry told him keeping Girgensons is his big off-season move

This press conference sounds like a funeral.

Not for this season. For the next one.

As if it wasn't already written in stone, Granato will definitely be back next year. Losses are expected at this point. The forward core is completely depleted now.

So, let's get this straight, we're going to run it back with the same coach hoping he can grow and lead the team to the playoffs + we're likely running it back with mostly the same young players...hoping the can grow into their roles and lead the team to the playoffs + we're going to have an even more inexperienced defensive core, hoping those young guys can say healthy and grow into their roles...

That's a lot of hoping. The only hope I have left is Adams proves me wrong. If all he does is add a bottom-6 C, I won't even watch game one of the season. I'm about that checked out. Still time, I suppose.

It’s pretty hard to listen to Sabres brass rationalize their moves when you have stars like Guentzel and Hertl getting moved for quarters. We could have traded for both of those players and still had the best prospect pool in the league.

Guentzel had a 12 team NTC
Hertl had a full NMC.

Do you think either of them waives to come here?

Hertl has a NMC so he wasn't coming here. Guentzel is a UFA at seasons end.

Its essentially this

I said it in the trade deadline thread:

He's 100% right that our best players need to play better, and like our best players.

But....shit......some veteran leadership at 3C and on the 4th line would not hurt in any way.
I think he means that bringing in veterans just for their leadership isn't enough (see EJ, Eric Staal, Taylor Hall, etc, etc.). He would only want vets that improve the team on the ice. If that's what he means, I agree.

Exactly. Anyway, the trade deadline is the worst time to add blue chip pieces other than pure rentals. For the most part, those deals need to happen in the summer.

He is right that the guys in the room need to be substantially better. Tage, Cozens elevating their game will be more impactful than any acquisition.

But it’s the job of the coach to get the best out of his players. Yet somehow Granato is immune because of *communication*

Yeah, I think I misread it a bit initially. Vets that improve the team that come in? I'm all for it, regardless of any leadership.

Probably also an acknowledgement that the EJ thing kinda failed -- didn't upgrade the team, but did bring leadership.

It can also be viewed as calling out the top guys on this team. We’re where we are because they shit the bed.

I thought Adams came across as smug. Blamed his players and didn’t seem to take responsibility for anything that he’s done (or didn’t do).

But I’ve never liked him, so there’s that.
