Wild have limited cap space for the next few seasons due to the buyouts of Parise and Suter.

What would your team offer for Fiala and/or Dumba?

I heard that Jersey might be interested in flipping their 1st rounder to Minnesota for Kevin Fiala so he can play alongside fellow Swiss countrymen Nico Hischier and Minnesota would get some cap relief….that was before Jersey was awarded the #2 pick overall !!

From the Sens I’d offer 7th overall, plus someone like Connor Brown and mid-level prospects for a signed (long-term) Fiala.
Sounds decent. What's Brown like as a player? What do you have in mind as the mid-level prospect.

Minnesota accepts.

The NHL hates anything good that can happen to Minnesota.

Fiala, Dumba for 7th OA, Zub.
If you step back from the fan attachment to Zub part, this isn't too bad. Fixes one hole with Fiala but swaps one RD for another and still leaves a hole there. I think it's close but I think if there's a way to make Zub someone else that doesn't create another hole this is a done deal.

Ottawa needs to keep their three centres (Norris, Stützle, Pinto), find a 2LW, find a 2RW, and add another 1/2RD without losing Zub.

Fiala to LA for their 1st, Gabe Vilardi and Jarret Anderson Dolan. If you needed an offensive RD Sean Walker could be in there too.

Guerin really needs to pull at least one high-ceiling asset back in a Fiala trade, and I don't see that here.

Now whether or not he's positioned himself to actually get that kind of asset... guess we'll have to see.

If you’re trading Fiala get someone back that could potentially develop into a Fiala level player.

Who do you think Minnesota would take if they actually made the deal for Jersey’s #2 pick? 🤔

A guy like Logan Cooley or Matt Savoie could be if the Fiala/#2 pick from Jersey ever came to fruition !

I think Holtz might not ever have the high-end ceiling of a Fiala, but I could see him having a few 30 goal, 70 point season. I’d be fine if that we’re the outcome

I’d definitely do this from a Wild perspective. Perfect duo of players for the next 3 years.
I don't think there's much chance that we see them take back a roster player back for Fiala, at least not one with much of a cap hit.

The rumor has been (and it makes sense) that management's plan is to slot Rossi into Fiala's spot with Boldy and Gaudreau next year. That lets him start at wing with a center that the coach trusts, but should give them flexibility to move him to the middle when/if he's ready for it.

Zuccarello - Hartman - Kaprizov
Greenway - Ek - Foligno
Rossi - Gaudreau - Boldy

So based on that and how the team has handled prospect promotions, swapping Fiala for Holtz probably puts Holtz in Iowa next year.

This leaves nowhere for a player like Zacha, who will probably need $3m+ on an extension and can't play center.

You could fit Zacha in at $3M with Holtz on an ELC too. Zacha might be better on the wing but he does have a >50 FO% the past two seasons, which could be a replacement for Gaudreau or Hartman. Forward group would be very deep:

Kap - Zacha - Zucc
GREEF
Boldy - Rossi - Holtz
Gaudreau - Jost - Hartman

Brodin - Dumba
Goli - Spurgeon
Kulikov - Addison/Merrill

Defense definitely suffers not being able to bring Middleton back, but that forward group doesn’t have a weak link.
