Leafs Home Board
That is absolutely heartbreaking.

That said, Amanda is bringing home a silver and Phil has very good chance of bringing home a bronze. They can hold their heads up high.

Team Canada assuring little sister has the bragging rights in the Kessel family this Olympics.

Phil hates losing - hope he carries the frustration of this and uses it as motivation with the Leafs for the remainder of the season :)

JVR looked a little lost today -- unsurprising considering Canada's team is a level above his.

I thought Kessel was as good as he could be tonight. Not much support, didnt have much choice but to get pucks on net from anywhere possible

The main boards is now hating on Kessel for not scoring against Canada? I guess Kessel is Team USA...

I felt similarly about their play. Kessel, Kane, and maybe Kesler were the only USA forwards who looked dangerous to me. If I were to critique one asppect of Phil's game today it would be that he had a few mistakes on the PP coughing the puck up and perhaps not battling for the puck along the boards on PP's. Some credit needs to be given to TC there though and Kessel has never been one to battle along the boards.

I hardly saw them on the ice. I saw a lot of Patrick Kane who couldn't even score 1 goal in this whole tournament and playing out there almost every other shift. I felt so bad for Kessel and JVR. They deserved the chance out there. I also saw #42 parked at the net in stead of JVR.

I think it was Backes, any ways I hope they can use this frustration to improve Leafs a lot. Kane plays on 2nd line and he deserves 2nd line mins just like Malkin. If not JVR, Kessel deserves to play on 1st line or at least more mins.

**** Dan Bylsma and Pens in NHL hard.

Now that we've moved on the gold medal game, I will definitely be rooting for Kessel and JVR on Sunday. They have both been standouts in the tournament and deserve a medal.

I root for Kessel and JVR in a Leafs jersey, but not on Sunday, the US shouldn't win a medal in hockey.

hopefully he lights it up against finland. maybe he still has a shot at winning the award for best forward. at the least he should make the media all star team.

That game was like playing the Bruins but with 6 Charas and 12 Bergerons. It's not really a big deal that he didn't put up any points. Him and Kane were the only ones that were even visible during the game.

Pretty much. Ive got no complaints. The only American forward he came remotely close to Phils level was Kane.

Man I want Phil and JVR to get a Bronze but I really like Finland they are my 2nd team in this tournament. What were they thinking putting in Lehtonen over Rask vs. Sweden. I feel so conflicted right now.

Phil did alright. He was up against perhaps the stoutest defense of all time, so I can't hold that against him.

JvR was not good. Like, completely neutralized. Along with almost every other forward.

As others mentioned Kessel and Kane were the two who scared me the most. Every time I heard their names I thought "here it comes. They are going to score."

I have a feeling Kessel will have a new found appreciation of Randy's borderline insane line matching. I don't think Bylsma did any coaching at all.

Feel really bad for Kessel...especially after his strong performance throughout the tournament. Hope he and JVR can win bronze.
