I've been impressed with Kessel and JvR. I never really paid attention to them when they play the Sabres, for whatever reason. Must have my blinders on. They definitely deserve the praise you guys give them and then some.

The disappointing performance by Canada so far helps.

They aren't playing poorly though. They've dominated every game they've played thus far. The defense has been tremendous and with a bit more puck luck, you guys would be singing a different tune. I expect that the game against the U.S. will "open up" a bit, and that will bode well for the Canadians.

Yeah small international tournaments like these offer a small sample size. Some bad puck luck in one game can get you eliminated from the tournament just like that. If Russia played Finland in a Best of 7, I don't see Finland getting past Russia. Russia outshot Finland 38-22. They dominated that game and were unlucky to only get 1 goal out of 38 shots on goal. The story will be that Russia sucked when that is far from the truth.

Yup.

And it's almost impossible for guys like St. Louis, Crosby, Perry, Nash, Toews, etc.......to not come to life offensively and explode for a bunch of goals. There's just too much talent there, for that to not happen.

Here's hoping it happens during the next two games.

It is as if they've been playing against the Leafs, except the Leafs have Kessel on offense.

Without Kessel the Leafs are Latvia.

Canada has played well shutting down the other teams, controlling the puck, and generating lots of scoring chances. Solid team game.
Watching the Russia game, you could see them going on solo mission one after another, no team game.
USA has played very well also, attacking with lots of speed. Kessel and JVR are able to generate offense and beat you all on there own. Should be an exciting high speed game. Can't wait.
Sorry Kessel and JVR, but Go Canada Go. :yo:

Carlyle was quoted giving credit to Pavelski for kessel's success.

Saying

[Pavelski] had a lot to do with [Kessel's success]. He's a player who is a lot like Bozak.

I agree Pavs as a pivot has worked well for thrill and JVR but come on Randy

Pavs>>>Bozak.

Carlyle why you being so  ?

Yeah that can F off lol. No way in hell Bozak compares to Pavelski. It looks pretty clear to me that Bozak's offensive game is nowhere near Pavs.

Come on guys, style of game and line role doesn't mean he's saying Bozak = Pavelski. Do we have to turn every quote into a controversy?

I wonder if there will be any sour feelings from kessel and JVR on playing in an Canadian city if Canada is to beat the US tomorrow...

lol, he didnt say bozak = pavelski. he said that they are similar. pavelski could still be better then bozak while still playing a similar type roll in relation to kessel.

Pavelski wasn't even on the ice for both JVR/Kessel goals the last game they played, it was Kessler who got the assists.

Yeah, people are taking the Carlyle comment out of context.

He wasn't saying Bozak = Pavelski, it's just that they play similar styles.

Goodness. Carlyle isn't saying that Pavs and Bozak are equal. He's saying that they play similar roles. Two players can play similar roles yet one player could be better than the other in that role.
