The asking price for Philly to move JVR, who has an expiring deal and is still a 20 goal scorer, was Philly's 2023 1st. I really don't think people get what "whatever it takes" actually means.

Wonder if Philly would do something like Risto/JVR/1st 2024(FLA)/2nd 2025 (PHI) for Petry/Anderson. Torts might want Anderson back and Risto is good for tank. Prop up JVR's value by playing him 1st line + 1st PP and flip him for 2023 pick mid-season retaining 50%.

It's especially weird with Byron who only has one year left and has a good chance of just being on LTIR all year anyway

Hughes trying to not tamper. So he's being careful answering about PLD.

But he's indirectly saying they're interested.

I wonder about that. He's RFA so are you allowed or not? Wouldn't it be tampering when his agent said he wants to play for the Habs yesterday? Ready some of the context he said...

"I can speak to that because right now he hasn't signed a contract, he's a compensated free agent. Montreal is a city where he would like to play. That's the only thing I can say right now."

Why ask about Price? He will decide if he can play through whatever discomfort there is or not. And if not then the NHL will have to agree and allow him to go on LTIR for therest of his contract.

Why would Montreal do that? They don't get cap relief, have worse long term contracts and get far off picks.

The agent can say anything about his client.

But even if he doesn't have a contract, PLD is an RFA, which means he is still property of the Jets.

For real.
The day Price makes a decision about his future, we'll know.
It won't be from a random in-presser question, with Hughes going:
"Oh yeah, thanks for bringing it up, was about to forget lol. Yeah Price is retiring, k thx bye"
