6.5 million for a guy who won’t even sniff close to 50 pts is a massive massive problem

Players value is not always about points. However, in Gallagher case, he just not performing to his past quality. He's getting smothered with his skating or lack their of.

Decline in 30+ years is usually where players loose skating or it slips. It clearly is happening to Gallagher. Hopefully he has a good off season and gets his legs back cause it's much deeper than his generation of points. Points come and go depending on who you play with and usage but if you're not moving your feel to create time and space or closing gaps, you are a problem contract.

This is a fair question. Easy to say fans should be patient, but how can a business sell patience?

The good news is that fans will go if the team is marketed correctly. Focus on the young stars of tomorrow and what's being built. Sports is all about hope. I'd watch kids developing, even if they lose, because next season will be better. Better than watching a weak roster of vets that isn't going anywhere.
Habs have tried that with KK and it failed. I hope the new management won't repeat the mistake with Slaf. Or kids like Guhle and Barron.

Who knew that Gally would be injured so often ? It could happen to any players, young or older.

I did. Literally anyone with a brain could have predicted that.

Players like him, with better stature than him, continually flame out early because their bodies can't hold up. Gallagher who was smaller, was always going to break down quickly.

Very interesting, just by the sound of it seems like both Mesar and Slaf will stay in Montreal during august and not play at the WJC. Slaf, I expected already.
Who cares about those short tournaments anyway? Not Hughes ;)

When he as paying full time with Danault and Tatar, he was doing great. With whom was he playing last season ? Right, it depends a lot with whom you're playing with.

Yes, too bad. I would have wiped the floor with the Bergevin tenure.

And this isn't to say I'm some brilliant hockey mind. I'm just not a complete f***ing moron like him.

Not sure why we want players in return.
It should just be a salary dump.
Just trade him in the western conference for future considerations.
Expectations have sure shifted from getting Dallas’s first round pick in exchange for Petry to us being okay with future considerations lol.

A John Lu question: Do you anticipate news from Price's treatment soon?

A Stu Cowen question: You must be pissed with Petry for asking for this trade?

An Eric Engels question: Hi again Kent, you look, great and it's good to see you again by the way. Mine is a 2-parter...Given the state of the current salary cap structured NHL that we currently find ourselves in, what sort of safeguards do you feel the team needs to set in place in order to make the types of moves that you see benefitting the Canadiens not only for now but for the mid to long range future especially when we are considering the upcoming contracts for some of the young core that we find on the roster and who are sure to take some steps forward in there progression as the season continues and may very well be looked upon to lead and carry this team at some point if not from the get-go when we consider some of the veteran players that have lost a lot of man-games to injury and just general wear and tear after proving themselves in important games for this franchise while knowing at some point the torch will need to be passed to the types of players previously mentioned?

Another factor yes. Habs have been guilty of bouncing players all over the line-up. Lehkonen is a prime example. Anderson as well. We can include Armia

I'd stick with a Drouin / Dvorak / Gallagher line next year. Sorry Gallagher but you're not playing with Suzuki or Dach and he should be on the 2nd PP unit at best.

Past loyalties mean nothing. We already paid you for the past which was a mistake. Got to get back to putting your head down and working hard and stay off twitter and being an active social media guy. Get back to the roots... Use your legs and smile, not your mouth and words. Talk is cheap

He's got a lot of very tough mileage done to his body. I don't expect Gallagher to play past 36. He's rebounded before but that was in his 20's. Can he do it again? Not sure

That cracks me up loll

not that I like the proposal but … why do you think there’s a first and second included here ?

Not much difference between JVR/Risto vs Anderson/Petry imo… some could argue that the Philly duo is more valuable besides the salaries … why on earth would they add first and second if we’re the one saving money ? Lol

Even at equal salary this a proposal with a clear advantage to montreal lol and yet here you are playing hardball like JVR+Risto+1st+2nd foooor Anderson and Petry loll is a proposal that favors Philly lol wth

Montreal is taking more salary now than they can afford and are taking the worse long term contract. Is that worth a later 1st/ early 2nd? I don't think so.

Things will change over time. I'm content with trying again at the next deadline but we must play him with Eddy all season long. Petry has shown little value to being effective with someone who young and maturing on the job. This sample goes well past this past season

Not my problem same for Pacioretty when he was grossly underpaid
Talk to their agents
Gallagher’s contract will be a problem from now on
It's a bigger problem mainly because three is many other bad contracts to underperforming players on this team too. Habs had to let go valuable assets like Danault, Lehkonen, Toffoli, Chiarot mainly because of price's situation, Weber, and contracts with those underperforming players (Armia, Hoffman, Drouin, Byron, Anderson, Petry last seson))

Yeah, me too. Our development and drafting was worst in the league for many years. Even the best marketing can't compensate for a bad product. That's one reason the Habs reference their storied past – it's inspiring in a way the present team isn't

Sounds like Price will decide if Price is playing or not. Hughes has to wait but he clearly said he prefers to know a long term resolution.

I think he will continue to have discomfort but who knows how his body reacts to that injection. It basically tells you body that a certain area of your body needs healing.

Yeah, I hate when fans say "get rid of" and "whatever it takes". Very ignorant and they need to look in the mirror
A decision has to be made at some time this season- the soap opera needs to end - and one way or another I think it will at some point this season

Eric engles argued with me in my DMs once when I mocked his asinine bozo interview with Bergevin. “I only had 15min” yeah and you squandered it asking fluffball nonsense.

I rly cannot understand what these people think their job is. It sure isn’t journalism.
