I hate bringing in a 35 year old defensemen that needs to be sheltered to take games away from Cam York and Egor Zamula, both of whom are NHL ready.

I hate that he was probably only signed at the behest of Hayes.

If they were going to sign a veteran depth defensemen, I would have liked a RHD so they only played if Braun, Risto, or Ellis were injured. We now have Provorov, Sanheim, Yandle, York, and Morin on the left side.

Ya I get it from that perspective. I dont love it obviously but if he helps the pp I guess there’s value. I just dont get why they dont let York grow with this team.

Because we just experienced the last 9 years of Flyers hockey where trash veterans consistently play over prospects. This is just more of the same. We used a 1st round pick on York instead of Caufield in 2019, and despite progression in his game, we're afraid to play him still in 2021, going on 2022.

It's almost like we have only won a single playoff series the last 9 years and aren't really any closer to winning a Cup than we were when blew everything up in the summer 2011. This team deserves massive amounts of skepticism after the past decade or so.

Has there really been personal insults in here? Aside from the one guy that insinuated everyone at HF is a moron ("if HF hates it, it's probably good"), it just seems like everyone is expressing their differing opinions on the deal, and that's okay.

I try to look at every deal independently rather than blindly hating or blindly loving them.

I liked both the Ellis and Atkinson deals. I hated the Ghost and Risto trades. I hate this signing. Hopefully I like the backup goalie signing.
