I think they just needed some back up plan just in case York wasn’t the guy or struggles. If he’s good enough, he will force their hand. Same with Zamula. If he’s bad, they just stick Yandle up in the press box. I feel better with Yandle as an insurance policy instead of Morin

Agreed. $900K isn’t going to block a younger player if they are performing.
Better than Nate Posser as a 7.
Yandle and Morin at 2.6M for depth is decent.
Players that are better are going to sign closer to home or with a contender to be a 7.

I said it was a great move if it was 2017, not 2021. Try again
So now we're moving the goal post, cool.

I said Yandle is better and more productive than Ghost. You quoted me and bolded that and said maybe if it was 2017. You didnt just bold the better part, but also more productive.

I provided their numbers since 2018 which show how much more productive Yandle has been from 2018 - 2021 and proved you wrong. End of story.

I'm just amazed by the leadership "argument". The jerk-hive kept telling me "you don't know what's going on in the locker room, you don't even know what calls the GM made" (oh but "Claude is a bad captain i know it")

Later the same group of people: "me god, i love how much better our locker room is now"
Why. Because the player you didn't like personally (re: Jake) left?
I’m not full throat into determining who is and is not a bad teammate, but there were times where clues were given out in the open. Couturier did it multiple times.

I think back to the game in Buffalo, the one they were down 3-0 and won (before they lost 6-1 to end their losing streak) where Giroux did the post game TV interview on the bench and he was asked about speaking up in the room and he said that he didn’t say a word and that it was Laughton and Braun who spoke up, and that told me that there was disconnect between Giroux and other players, some of which I presume are already gone.

I know what you're hinting at and I agree to some degree, I just think it's still highly contradictory to make those statements (I referenced), also when past status is only hinted at and future status of something so intangible can not be known right now. What's the point of that argument/statement then

If you look at Yandle the last three years, he was declining, then Q woke up, realized he was an aging veteran, and gave him 17 sheltered minutes a night and he had a nice rebound season. Much like Braun who was fine until injuries forced him into a top 4 role.

This is nice insurance at low cost, injuries WILL happen, at least we're not calling up Prosser or Friedman this season.
York will still get his minutes, though given his pro experience is what, 10 games? it wouldn't kill him to start at LHV, the same way it won't hurt Zamula to ge 40-50 games in before they call him up.

The Pens sent Guentzel at 22 years old to the AHL out of college, for 33 games - he blew the AHL away, forcing them to recall and play him.

but at $3.5MM more
But with a more productive player and retaining the picks that went out the door with him. This whole shell game wasn’t necessary, Fletch just had to get risto. The report of his chasing him for 3 years heavily implies that.

I doubt that very much. He started as the 13th forward last season when he was a year younger and we still had Patrick, and went straight in the lineup when the 1C got hurt.
Disagree, only because I think he needs to play. I think he eventually comes up and sticks but I think to start the season he’s gotta get the juice after only playing 2 games in a year and a half. He’s still waiver exempt and will be all season, but him being scratched as a 13F I think would be the worst thing for everyone.

Hell
So then every time someone posts a fancy graph to try to disprove someone they are baiting an argument. Just stop. You're just butthurt because you said something that couldnt have been more wrong and got disproven with facts.

Have a nice day dude... we don't need to continue.

Yup. All it is is extremely cheap veteran depth who will help recharge the locker room.

He’s barely making more than Sam Morin.

This will help them weather injuries at a very low cost.

Now they can focus on G & F.

Again, we don't have Patrick anymore. Or the cap space for a proper 3C signing.

I think the “locker room” is greatly overblown. These guys treat their work as a job. Of course there can be tension or great chemistry but I bet winning teams have “good” locker rooms because morale would obviously be higher

He should see an even more sheltered time here. He should play only like 14 or less and a majority of that should be on the pp.
