My feeling is...it's just veteran insurance in case York looks like crap in camp. OR, of course, Fletch really likes Yandle and AV loves him, too and plays way too much.

I am super indifferent to this signing since he's a #6 or worse. My only standout thought: how the f*** did this guy get a NTC?

Yandle isn't a guy you sign to improve team defense. He's one of the most heavily sheltered dmen in the league. Over 70% of his 5v5 starts were in the ozone last season.

I mean the defensive unit as a whole on both sides of the ice. Offensive dmen have their place if used properly.

The way I see it, defense and goaltending were our Achilles heel last year and the defensive unit was a big reason for it. Others were to blame too. They needed to reshape the back end and they did. Whether it works or not remains to be seen. If they struggle, I’ll be right there with my pitchfork for Fletcher. Until the. I’m willing to give this team a chance. I can’t see them having as bad a year as last season

I will add to this that I don’t think we should be anti-Yandle signing because we fear he might not be used correctly. I don’t think that should prevent them from making a move like this. Give the coaching staff all possible useful tools and if it doesn’t work, it’s their heads
