For better or worse we at least can argue the merits/faults of the new regime. Almost guaranteed they'll suck though.

Flyers went out, and committed to Briere - and Torts as HC. Their president of hockey ops selection pool clearly shrunk as a result. Some candidates were not on board with their HC, and GM already being selected.

It's not that everyone associated with the team is dumb, but when at the end of the day when the chips are down you again hire from the family. You limit yourself.

"They are convinced Torts has to be a major part of this, and has to have a lot of power. That's a huge part of this"

It's not going anywhere until Comcast sells, and even then... But until that happens, nothing happens.

Since Comcast has owned 100% of the Flyer shares in 2016...

2 CEO's - Scott, Hilferty
3 President's of Hockey Ops - Holmgren, Fletcher, Jones
3 GMs - Hextall, Fletcher, Briere
3 HC's - Hakstol, Vigneault, Tortorella

Changes aren't a bad thing, but it's been basically a worse move with every single hire.

The hope is Briere stands out as a unicorn? Shall see.

It's crazy that we all thought Hextall/Hakstol was rock bottom.

This also preserves their current track record of doing the absolute minimum work in team matters. 17 phone calls now seems like a Herculean effort in comparison.

I remember thinking that Torts wasn’t a real option at coach and they’d eventually hire someone else, but they were just doing their due diligence.

However many months later, he’s essentially the GM of the Flyers lol.
Strap yourself in. If torts is truly as involved as the reports suggest, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

It's insane that this is how they choose to run a gigantic business, but even more insane how predictable it all is. Like, there isn't anything Charlie said that someone on here didn't postulate months ago.
