Like a lot of what Kass had to say here, I think he’s completely right. I also like the sound of him saying he wants to stay here. He’s definitely a glue guy and I’d have him back at a reasonable price in a heartbeat.

It’s kinda cool the hear that he got a lot of messages from a lot of people around the league showing their support for what he did to the Turtle™

Sounded like he was callig out Parros a bit when he said that he put it in the memory bank that George said those hits were legal.
I would definitely check to see where Kassian is if I played the Oilers and was skating below the goalline.

I like what Kassian has to say there. Especially about how he now knows what is considered a legal hit and what is not now, and keeping it in memory. Sounds like he'll be pumped to play the Flames on the 29th. I'm hoping he doesn't go after turtle and goes after their other guys. There is a lot of dirt in Calgary and turtle isn't the guy he should be targeting. If he destroys everyone else with these "legal" hits, that message will get to turtle in a more meaningful way. And if turtle doesn't like it and wants to do something about it, we've got the guys he can cower in front of. After Johny Crybaby gets destroyed all game, you bet the team will have a little sit down with turtle and tell him his stupid antics, which most don't agree with, need to stop.

Maybe the elite ones but these are still for the most parts kids who have been playing in this environment for years. Poke the bear and eventually it will poke back. Hell even Mario and Crosby have had their moments. Kassian is a hot head and Tkachuk knew it. I had zero issue with him getting under Kassian's skin. I do have an issue though with his cowardice. That is my take away.

At some point your going to realize that Tkachuk is "poking the bear" because it caused the bear to dance in a way that he desires. He's exploiting Kassian's weakness. Kassian needs to adapt and stop being exploitable. His toughness should be an asset but right now it's a weakness.

And for the record, 100% I'm in the crowd that tkatchuks hits were illegal and should be suspended... the NHL is embarrassing. They were both textbook charging and primary contact point the head. But within that injustice you have to react different.

Really good interview by Kass, he handled himself well and you can tell by the way he says after talking to Paros I know what’s legal and what isn’t, and just his persona throughout the whole thing that he knows he needs to pick his spot and eventually he will get it. People can say what they want about what happened on Saturday, but this dude deserves mad respect

Nothing will happen in the next game other than Kassian being given a couple of minors for looking in the general direction of the Flames bench.

The refs will be all over it.

Yup. Kass may think he now has a clearer picture of what the league allows as far as hits, but he’s kidding himself. Every game is reffed differently, every suspendable act is assessed differently. Zero chance he walks away with nothing if he makes similar hits on guys. Especially if they milk it and stay in the fetal position on the ice for a while. His biggest mistake in all of this was doing the honorable thing and not staying down. Likely a different outcome if he stayed on the ice for a bit. And not that I’m suggesting he should of, but that’s the way it appears you get the leagues attention these days.

I love the team calling out Parros today. Everyone from Tipp down saying it’s a screwup shows they’ve got Kass’ back. It’s funny how 20 players/management around the league felt strongly enough about it to reach out and text Zack (plus the ones on social media) and show their support, yet the DOPS can’t recognize they’re in the wrong.

Honestly, this is a thing Parros is gonna take a lot of heat for. The amount of response from former players and media about how the hits were not legal and dirty is making his response of them being legal look poor.

Ya this could get him fired when Kass takes Rats head off next game with a hit Parros just told him is legal. You just know with what Kass said that it’s happening. Even if Rat manages to avoid him all next game, it’s coming. Even if it takes until next year, Kass is going to wreck him (and how great is it that he specifically mentioned wanting to be here long term despite it not being asked)

Or Doughty will. Or one of the many guys in the league who hate Ratboys guts.

Huge respect to Kassian. I love this player and I think we learned a lot about him through Turtle-gate.

He's clearly the emotional leader/pulse of this team. This team can be prone to some indifferent, passive play but we don't see Kassian shorting on effort. Listening to Draisaitl's sound byte reinforces this glue quality for this team and appreciation of the player and person Zach is.

This guy is old school honour and respect in a PC world. He does not back down in his interview about the situation, his action and bis belief of manning up for himself and/or his teammates when an opponent tries to take advantage. Now he will have to ensure he doesn't get suckered into another Turtle-gate situation but I think (and hope) he won't with lesson learned, a strong coach to ensure the lesson sticks and McDavid who burns to win and can help keep Kassian focused on the big picture - W's.

Exactly. And I’d actually be shocked if Doughty wasn’t one of the guys that texted him. Even Rat’s own brother has called him out in the past. This isn’t a player with any respect around the league. He’s the new Cooke, and his day is coming

Shows what the players think of it. They know the hits are dirty. Kass probably did what a lot of players want to do.

You never hear of so many people from around the league coming to the defense of a player for beating on another one.

That tells you 2 things, Tkachuk isn't well liked in the league and that they KNOW the league f***ed up here

Exactly. Also how dangerous those hits were. Its not just that he's targeting but he had intent to injure.

This is exactly what is going to happen. Oilers will throw the same style of questionable hits as Tkachuk, but will get disciplined in game (refs will be told to keep a lid on emotions) or suspended after because of some BS legalese that the league spews in an effort to explain why ours are worse.

If they just did their god damn jobs in game to begin with they could have put a lid on this, but they didn't. Then dumbass Parros decides its smart to go out on a limb and say the Tkachuk hits were legal (they weren't). Such insane idiocy that's going to back them into a corner and open up all kinds of issues if the next game is a gong show.

Self inflicted wound by the league that they're certainly going to take out on the Oilers if they choose to respond in any way.

Absolute bush league. Suspended for what? Basically no penalty is called on the first hit likely because its Kassian. When he finally sticks up for himself after the second big hit he gets the gate and a 2 game suspension....because its Kassian. If this is Khaira I doubt the league responds.

That being said, I hope Kassian demolishes Tkachuk in a similar manner just to see the league's reaction. All the best Oil fans.

Disagree. The oilers have actually had success where they shouldn’t, against the upper tier teams and their road record is better then at home. We aren’t that far removed from 16-17 where the oilers swept the Shames if I remember right. The flames will get their lunch fed to them shortly.

The difference at this point vs. 2016-17 vs. this year is basically the Flames matchup.

They were 25-15-7 for 57 points after 47 games after beating Calgary three times (one of which in Overtime). They are now 24-18-5 for 53 points but two losses vs. the Flames.

From the Flames side they are currently 25-18-5 for 55 points in 48 games with four of those points being vs. Edmonton. That year, they were 24-21-3 for 51 points with one point vs. the Oilers.

Basically, if Edmonton wins both of the games this year and everything else was the same, we'd be identical to 2016-17. Shows how crucial those games against a divisional foe can be.

The Oilers have been given a gift. This is ultimately going to galvanize this team like never before.

I also have a hard time believing that it wont negatively affect the Flames. If I was a player on that team (whose name wasnt Anderson) I would feel embarrassed about Tkachuks actions.

This is going to be fun to watch play out for both teams.
