Or even a year ago. This season got a lot more interesting.

I'm not expecting him to be the player he was 10 years ago - hoping he's pain free while skating...While slower in the foot speed dept he should still be capable of creating offense from the wing - especially while on the pp.Eh, not sure how to feel. He did not look good in NY.
So only $2M prorated ?
that's cheaper than most thought he would get.
Looks like there may be some truth to the notion that he knew he wanted to come to Detroit, so there was no reason to overspend.
No chance Hawk fans boo him.So if he's ready by tomorrow, his first game is against the Rangers. If it's not until Thursday, it's against Chicago. And if he's not ready until next week, he kicks things off in Buffalo.
Odds are pretty good that he's opening up against a team that'll boo him pretty loudly.
I will never boo Kaner. He brought us 3 cups. In fact, I'm gonna buy his DET sweater right now just to complete my Kaner jersey collection! No chance Hawk fans boo him.

Unless Detroit is in serious contention, my bet is he goes to a contender after this year. This is really a great deal for him. Gets to play with his buddy for a year, prove that he's still got it, and then likely gets to choose one of the top teams to ride into the sunset with.As others have said above:
Gross.
But as others have also said: I got over Chelios, I'll get over this.
And one year, just $2M actual salary -- that's awesome. He'll want more next year if he shows that he's fully recovered. Hopefully he doesn't want a lot more.
I'm inclined to believe he'll stick around until he retires if he's still able to play. He's already won 3 Cups... I doubt he's ring chasing at this point in his career.Unless Detroit is in serious contention, my bet is he goes to a contender after this year. This is really a great deal for him. Exactly. You get a chance to sign Patrick Kane for a 1 year deal, you do it.Absolute no brainer of a contract. If he plays one game and calls it quits it's still worth the risk at this price.
