I'd rather see Rassmussen out. Dude has reverted back to his Sheahan v2.0 days.
100%, I'm all for this. With Kostin, I think most of us knew what we could reasonably expect out of him on the fourth line.

With Ras, expectations for him are most certainly not being met, and it's not like Ras isn't being put in a position to succeed.

However, I also imagine the organization is still holding out hope that Ras gets it together. Both Ras and Kostin are RFAs, and the Ras contract expires at the end of the season. If anyone needs to prove they belong right now, it's him.

Klim can actually hit, I thought he had a bad game against Minny but previously I was happy with him. Ras I have just been down on, maybe a scratch will get his ass in gear. But Lalonde was talking like they are happy with him so I dunno.

Confusing.

Yzerman live conference from an hour ago.

Talks about Kane and a replies to a question about ASP success this year at the end of the video.

Kane conference

Loved Kane's comments about wanting to learn from younger players as well. What a great attitude for a HOFer to have. He should be a really good mentor for Raymond in particular.
Not to mention Larks getting to play with a guy he grew up watching and trying to model his game after. I'm sure he's super excited for that opportunity, too.

On Octopus Thrower there is an article under the byline of Bob Heyrman under the headline "The Patrick Kane signing proves that Steve Yzerman is all in." I don't see a way to comment on the article on Octopus Thrower.

I don't know who wrote the headline and am thinking it was someone other than Heyrman. The article doesn't in any way argue that the signing means Yzerman is all in. To the contrary, it refers to the signing as low risk, high reward.

To me going all in means pushing all of one's chips in, taking the risk of losing everything if it doesn't work. How could anyone argue that signing a seven month contract, giving up no assets at all, brings the kind of risk that can be called "going all in"?

Is this normal at Octopus Thrower?

I think the author means that the Redwings is at the moment considering pushing for the playoffs this year with all their free agent veteran acquisitions(and not just Kane) being a potential buyer rather than a seller at the trade deadline.

I’m not really sure what to think of this signing? If he’s 50% of his former self he’ll be a great addition. One thing for sure he won’t be frustrating me with a different team. At one point this guy was a generational talent.

These Detroit connections for Kane are incredible.

- played for Honeybaked U16 (kid league located at Farmington Hills...)
- played fo USDP (then located at Ann Arbor, lived at Pat Verbeek's house, Verbeek was Red Wings scout on that time...)
- loved to play at Joe Louis Arena, because he felt that it's somekind of second home.

I'm just totally sold for this guy after his praise for Red Wings organization, how he aprreciated Yzerman etc.

So Kane played for Chicago, but basicly he is a Michigan product, and he feels he almost came home. :)

Funny how he talked about Buffalo, that now Detroit is nearer for his dad (who lives at Buffalo) and he can come to games. :D (nice distraction for Sabres, that it was never an option...)

I know Kane is small but has he always looked so fragile? lol
Yes but before he had the speed to get away with it. I think he's a smart enough player to adjust his game but it's going to be interesting to see how he can handle the physicality without the speed he used to have.

If nothing else, I think Kane is going to be a fantastic player for Ray to learn from. You cannot understate the influence that a HOF type player can have on an emerging guy, and Kane has never seemed like the vet type that doesn't help his younger players. I mean look no further than his and DBCs relationship upon entering the league. The Hawks team was successful for so long because they were able to keep bringing in cheap young guys to supplement the depth they had to trade off for cap reasons.

He said multiple times over the last day or so that he has been dealing with this for YEARS. Meaning, during his 92 point season 2 seasons ago, he was having hip pain. He said crossovers from left to right were terribly painful and instead of a "juke step" (not sure another word to describe it) he had to "peg leg" (his words) which I take that as he had to try to just push off the leg instead of planting with force and juke over.

He believes he will be better than last year and Yzerman is expecting two years ago Kane because of what he has actually seen from his skating during this process.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I'm now kind of expecting a very productive player addition here. I'll still temper expectations, but watching his quick highlights of his practice yesterday, he looked pretty damn good with his shot and the cross ice pass he made to husso's back door means he's still got the vision.

Raymond should be dancing like snoopy right now because this guy is going to teach him everything to become a 100 mill+ career earner in this league...as long as he takes in the info, of which I think he will.

Also, a happy dbc is a happy red wing fan, so lfg.

How confident are you that you can get back to the Patrick Kane we've seen come playoff time, the pimpernickel(?), the heartbreaker. To that level?

Kane: Very confident. You know, I know for a fact I will be better than I was last year, even the year before. I mean, I put up decent numbers, but I couldn't really move side to side a lot. A lot of the plays were just peg leg planted. It was a good decision, and I am very confident I will get to that high level of play.

Thank you for the video lol. I guess I could have just done that lmao

Everything he's said makes me so much more hopeful, if he really feels as good as he says he does this could be a massive addition.
I'm cautiously optimistic. It's not how he feels right now, but how he feels after playing a couple months of NHL hockey. With opponents likely targeting him along the boards.

Fingers crossed.

Thats all I am waiting for before being overly ecstatic and defending anything he does (stupid fandom).

I just need a trouba type hit or a straight cross check on his hip and see how he reacts to feel comfortable. I obviously don't want someone to do this, but that will not be reality. I don't think it'll be malicious by whoever that does it that would specific target the hip, but things happen in a game and am waiting for it.

He shakes it off and still has speed, then the next game he has the same jump, then I'm officially sold and bought in.

Lalonde on the morning skate "yeah when me and steve met him, along with twelve other teams". Omg that makes me feel good, everyone wanted Kane but its the Wings he chose. So many years where people where talking shit and saying all kinds of stupid stuff. Yzerman gonna destroy that 25year playoff streak, im not saying it starts this year but it's going to start.

Edit: sorry yeah here is the link if you havent seen it.

minus points on Lalonde calling Berggren a "depth player", but wise words after about him.

"already had 60-65 skates already" im so f***ing hyped for 88

Not only are we making it this year, we're contenders. 😉

Wether it's now or at the deadline, my money says Yzerman still makes moves and I think we"ll still see another significant add.
