When it comes to professional athletes its guilty until proven innocent, and even then you are thought of as guilty (unless you are a diehard Kane and Hawks fan). If he comes out of this innocent many people will say the woman was bought off. Even if no charges are filed he will have an ugly stain follow him the rest of his life just because of being accused. Plain and simple you cannot put yourself in the position for something like this to happen.

He thought he was being funny when he said watch out for me the next week when commenting on growing up. No one is laughing at that one now...

Exactly. Even if the allegations are false Kane needs to take a long hard look at his life and make some changes because it's not like these situations are the norm and he seems to find himself in some **** every other off season.

True.
The ONLY reason I am skeptical of this is because the amount of money involved, and how big of a star Kane is.

If it were an average person that had these claims made against them, I wouldn't be as skeptical as I am with this.

The problem at this point is not only that he may or may not have did it, it is mostly that he put himself in a position to have this kind of attention around him KNOWING that he is a popular figure and that anything he does WILL be known by the community. Even if Kane did not do this or that, at this point it really doesn't matter because he should know better than that and he's old enough to know what's right and what's wrong and obviously he didn't think in this case and the results are already very discouraging.

My wife thought the same thing, as did the 2 other girls I talked to.\
And i fail to see where I said it is fact/true. Speculation on my part.
Is it a crime to speculate what I think might have happened?

My mom also thought the same thing as soon as I told her it was a rape investigation. I guess that makes you, your wife, your 2 other friends, and my mom all misogynists.....

We know literally nothing about this case and people are already skeptical of the victim's claims. :shakehead

I'll wait to see how it unfolds, but Kane has bought himself zero benefit of the doubt with his previous behavior.

I wouldn't mind Kane behind bars when he's not at a game or practice. It would stop a lot of the ********.

And on other end some want Kane behind bars

The extremes will take own prejudices/viewpoint and decide guilt/innocence no matter what sadly

Only one person has said they want him behind bars and I have never seen him post here before.

On the other hand multiple people are doubting her claims.

Feel free to tell people not to rush to judgment when you do it quite frequently.

What ########?

Outside of cab incident he has had no run ins with law

His partying in Wisconsin is no different then what you see on college campus or at ********* filled nightclubs. Was it immature? Sure but it didn't rise up to some awful misdeed that he needed to account for

There is a clear track record of him being a braindead, arrogant, aggressive, entitled moron when alcohol is involved.

Assuming this gets resolved without him going to jail, the first thing the Blackhawks need to do is to keep him away from alcohol at all times.

Think EA goes a different way with the cover now?

Even if it turns out false allegations they wouldn't want that associated with their product. Depending on how it plays out and how quickly I wouldn't be surprised to see him off the cover at some point.

I'm going to post what I said in the mainboard thread, because I think it applies to what is being said here too.

So many people arguing over whether or not the accusations are true or if the girl wants money.

People immediately want to be skeptical and say she's lying.

Others want to immediately jump on her side.

Whether the percentage of false rape accusations is 1% or 100% we need to look at this completely objectively.

If 100% of rape accusations were false, we would still need to take into account that this could be a real one, and the woman was indeed raped. On the flip side, if only 1% of accusations were false, once again, we would need to take into a account that there is a possibility that she is lying.

The point is that either is a possibility. If only 1% of rape accusations are false, that doesn't mean this rape accusation has a 1% chance of being false, that isn't how statistics work. We can't immediately jump to this woman's defense, but we also can't jump to Patrick's. Political correctness seems to suggest that the victim should be believed without question. Instead, we should question both parties without a bias for either; and that means scrutinizing Patrick just as much as we scrutinize this woman. That is how the justice system works.

Take emotion and personal beliefs out of the equation, it has no place when determining facts.

You speculated what you think 'probably', not what might have happened -- discounting the woman's claims when you don't have a ****ing clue.

Woosh... that's something I hadn't even given a moment's thought to until now. Even if, best case scenario, this goes completely away in the next ten minutes by a shocking revelation about this being a complete fabrication of an allegation, I'd have to assume that EA would still be at least slightly hesitant. If the investigation is prolonged and especially if charges are filed, I can't see them being willing to keep him on.

This sums it up nicely:

@Proteautype: Patrick Kane has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. Women have the right to be presumed honest until proven otherwise.

What association? Are you kidding me. As sports fans most of us realize athletes are the victims.

This part is sad but true. I do have an excellent drunk Kane story, but I dont think this is the right time. :shakehead

I have been reading and posting in thread on main board

Its a real mess between the extreme's (That I talked about in earlier post) over there

Really a god awful mess of ignorance on both sides

It's only natural for people to lean towards an assumption in something like this. Just in a case like that, it's probably best to leave that assumption in your mind and not post about it.
