Miller s a frustrating player.
He has a ton of talent and size. He’s been a good NHLer for years and won’t be 25 until Jan…
The troubling thing is he doesn’t seem to show any real improvement from year to year. So he will always leave us wanting more and never getting it.
Is that a reason to trade him? Not IMO. The only reason to trade him is if someone will pay us for the upside that we will probably never see on this club. That or he prices himself out. I’ve seen people suggest he gets 6mil, I don’t think he’s worth that. A few years ago I would have thought he’d be an almost untouchable by now. He isn’t, but he’s not a dump either. I’d trade him in the right deal but I’m not LOOKING to do so.

View attachment 924087Bro of all people here I’m telling you right now I’m the last one you wanna talk to like that, you’ve been warned, IDIOT!
#2 at best imo. No one is taking the mantle from Bern because he would have replied with some insanity and then tied the bow by calling the OP “ye olde coot!” and there are some things you just don’t recover from.

Is that a challenge?

How hard is it to find a team to trade with who needs an offensive minded Dman ?

The hair dying thing is old man yelling at cloud nonsense.
Maybe, I don't really care if he dyes his hair blonde. But to win the Cup, you need to have players who are laser-focused on winning championships. It just turns me off that he comes to camp with the hair dyed blonde and starts the year hesitating on pinches and getting beat to the front of the net out of the corner game in and game out. When that happens, coincidences get correlated. He hasn't been good, regardless what the advanced stats say.

This is the first time I've heard someone raging because of an athlete styling his hair.

Some of you need more than one hobby. :DD

Why is never in front of his own net? Has anyone ever told him that's his area?

That's why he looks like he's making spectacular defensive plays. He's always out of position and catching up with guys from behind.

He's a gutless player on so many levels, and he is going to ruin Fox.

Anyone who scouts the Rangers should pick up on the fact that Miller is completely unable to make any quality decisions with the puck on his stick. So he's always going to reverse to his partner whenever he is pressured or pass it to a teammate instead of taking a shot, even if they are in a worse postion than he is.

He's not a defenseman. I don't even know if he could be a forechecking forward. He won't hit. I don't know what he is. I say he's a taller, less physical Tom Poti.

He probably looks phenomenal in practice. All the testing probably looks great. If you could "wierd science build" a hockey player, I don't know if you give him better tools that he already has. But they're all for nothing when he gets in a game.

It's like he needs all the things they were looking for in the Wizard of Oz for himself. He has no courage, no heart, no brain, and he looks like a tornado swept him out of position when he's in his own zone.

He is not a foundational piece you build around. He's a bottom pair Dman on a good team. He can get you by against bottom 6 forwards but true 1st liners are going to eat his lunch every time because he doesn't have the brain to keep up with them or the will to outwork them.

They cannot afford to sign him to a big extension because he is not going to put it all together until he's about 30. You're going to pay alot of dues with him before you get to the payoff.

He's Brady Skjei 2.0. Every conceivable tool, yet always making wonder why he's not getting more out of them. Then he's going to give you one year when you can point and say "see? I told you he was good!"
And then, he will never do it again

His pairing was the only one worth a shit. They had an xGF % of 79% and everyone else got f***ing caved.

And Brady Skjei is a good defenseman what are you going on about?

I thought Miller played great today. Still want Jim to be more aggressive on the attack. But all in all he was terrific today.

Lol. They don't know. The fact that Miller breathes air will rage and it must be rage when you're on only wrong about Miller, but other solid D-men in the league as well. They'll never change their tune. At least I can say I was wrong about a guy like Laf who is a goddamn stud now.

Miller has issues. 100%. However, he's not the only problem and he's not the WORST problem.

The biggest Miller critics are some of Lindgren's biggest fans.

Says what you need to know.
Miller reminds me of baseball infielders with good range and jumps so they just have more opportunities to boot the ball and be credited with errors. He’s also just not skilled at all so he’s good for a few touches a game where he looks like he has some kind of neurological disease. Then you’ve got Lindgren who’s the guy with no range at all so he gets to nothing and it just looks like he’s doing his job out there

I said it plain the first time. Skjei has the size, the speed, the shot to be alot better than has ever proven to be. Classic "all tools, no tool box" player. Is he an NHL player? Yes. But he's never come close to hitting his potential.

are you a yankee fan? you sound like a yankee fan.

it's really difficult to be a #1D in the NHL. really hard. the guys that do get paid massively.

so when you talk about "potential," especially in terms of players the Rangers draft and develop, I wonder about what your expectations are. if you find that players are never meeting them, maybe you should lower them to a reasonable level.

Is K'andre a #1D, will he ever be? no and almost certainly not.

but he's an effective defenseman with holes in his game who can clearly contribute to winning. at this point it's all about the cap hit.

Brady Skjei is a legitimate top 4 defenseman who eats 20+ minutes a game and damn near had a 50 point season last year and has had 18 and 13 goals in his last 2 years.

Unless you thought he was going to be a sure fire #1 (and if you did, thats your fault), he's more than cashed in on his potential. No one saw this level of offense from him. Remember when Jones (Seth), Trouba and Skjei were the top 3 D prospects with the NTDP? Skjei is objectively the best one of the 3 right now and he was a distant 3rd to the other 2 when they were amateurs. Some fall off from the other 2 for sure, but he's had sustained success at this level longer than the other 2 did.

this is what i mean about expectations: there is a not insignificant population of rangers fans, and probably other teams fans, who think that if a guy has size, can skate, and shows a little puck skill, he's a failure if he's not Lidstrom.

I feel like you're trying to take this in a bad direction.

I don't like Miller, the hockey player. That's where it starts and ends.

I don't like him because:

He doesn't make good plays with the puck.

He panics under pressure and won't take a hit to make a play.

He also won't hit anyone and has 6'5".

He has zero defensive awareness in his own zone and doesn't seem to have developed any despite being in a top four role from the minute he put on the sweater.

He frequently turns offensive opportunities into nothing by just... Losing the puck. I have never seen anything like it.

He also is not ever held accountable for his poor play. He doesn't get moved down the lineup, he never sits out. Just nothing. Key has a free pass to be Key and not ever care that he makes brutal errors on a nightly basis.

I don't like that so many posters just seem to blindly say he's great and ignore all these things.

I want him to be good. He just isn't. I want him to put it all together, but I don't think it's going to happen. If he does, I will gladly come on here, and proudly tell you all that you were right about him and that I was wrong. I've been wrong before. I can handle it.

As far as the hating him personally, I dont. I don't care what he does off the ice, who his S/O is, where he's from, who he is, none of that matters to me. I wish him well. I just also wish he would be better at the only part of his life that concerns me.

I don't follow baseball, but listened to WFAN growing up. It must have bled over.

This has always been my main point about Miller. He can fool your eyes into thinking he's a top pair Dman. He was fine as an ELC and even on his bridge. If you pay him as a top pair Dman, you are going to find yourself in trouble.
