He also said he doesn't put much stock into one single tournament earlier in the interview

So there you have it - Kakkos play before WC doesnt match Hughes'

That second statement is an opinion. I quoted you factual statements from the Devils...

I draft Kaapo Kakko.

Partially because how many times in your life will you be able to get up in front of a large audience, TV cameras and your peers and say a name as fun as "Kaapo Kakko" into a microphone.

He's already invested his Username in this , he can't back out now!
Again, hes pretty bad... but lets be honest here. Got some brutal homers on both sides (you being one of them)

Theres being arguments made that make it sound like were arguing about mid round draft picks.

Most devil fans want hughes. Any team that won the draft lottery would prefer hughes. its easy to think otherwise when your team isn't actually faced with the situation. Ranger fans will be jumping for f***ing joy if Kakko goes first...

Itll be hilarious to see how quickly hughes goes from some bust so the future of USA hockey again.

This is such an interesting phenomenon that I see being repeated. When NJ initially won the lottery in 2017, Devils fans wanted Nolan and Flyers fans wanted Nico. Then when Nico to the Devils was gaining momentum, both sides flipped. I bet if Kakko to NJ starting gaining steam, fans would be doing an about face.

Its mostly Finnish fans saying Hughes isn't good or is a bust etc, most Rangers fans would be very happy to get him, myself included. Most Rangers fans are also Americans so we want elite American players in the league as well.

Don't see how that makes me a "brutal homer" but whatever.

Not when the difference in potential is this evident

Yeah, like I said, I always preferred Kakko and the evidence from before the lottery will back that up. But by and large, if the picks switched, the two fanbases would switch arguments.

That harsh reality when you realize that most players will never reach their "potential" and that practical projections are much more relevant, which is far more projectable for players who are at a significantly higher level of play at this very moment than some time in the future.

I’m going with Kappo it’s hard to really say over the season who’s better one is playing in a league with 16-20 year olds and excelled The other played against men all year and was almost a point per game. Now the WHC came around and both are playing the same level of hockey and one was a healthy scratch on a fairly weak US team and really didn’t get the minutes but he did nothing with the time he got on the ice. Kappo excelled and was the top player on the fins. I doubt Kappo goes first but he did everything humanly possible to make his case. While Hughes in my opinion did the opposite.
