I don’t care about his stats or goals, points etc. He looks like a man out there and plays extremely well. His gap control is NHL level and he’s a physical force out there. His confidence is growing and you see him pinching in and going to the net more because his skating can bail him out if he gets caught. Forget the points and stats. He’s playing like a beast right now. That’s what’s important.

And even eye test will only tell you so much.

It's a small sample size, at a particular stage in their development. Suzuki only looked mediocre at his world juniors. But he's looking pretty good now.
Not of my opnion. Suzuki was playing 30 sec on the second wave PP and he was clearly the best player during it. Its difficult to show you hockey IQ with a little sample like that. He was playing RW, and this is not the position to suceed. The guy was like today. He doesnt skate for nothing cause he doesnt need to do. His production wasnt the best obviously but i liked the player

Suzuki didn't play bad and many of us at the time were saying he wasn't be used correctly that he should have been on the top line just as Brook should have been used at RD instead of LD which was stupid.

I know some don't like it and think it's just an excuse for Caufield, Suzuki, Brook last year, but when you have a 5-6-7 game short tournament with players that get little time to adjust to one another, chemistry is a huge part of it. Caufield with Beecher was stupid, Caufield in the slot on the PP or playing with a '21 draft eligible is not what I would have done. That doesn't mean Caufield shouldn't have played better last year, or that he hasn't made some mistakes this year or that Suzuki with his shot should have had at least a goal etc...

In the end these tournaments always get blown out of whack, Peohling gets a hattrick and posters were saying he should be in the mix for rookie of the year. Collberg goes ppg at 17 and we think we stole one at the draft. McDonagh and Pac didn't have the best WJC's and were trashed, etc...

With prospects it's all about how they progress or not, of course you want to see them do well vs their peers but in the end it means little, good or bad. It's just one step in a long race.
And WJC is on 2 weeks. Sniper are working on sequence. Caufield is maybe on a bad sequence right now in term of production but you never know, the next game he can put you 3 goals. Thats work like that a putter/sniper. I like the player, how he is playing. Production will coming

He's having a good tournament...

Again and again and again, we'll see how he does against good teams but yeah surprised to see him up there as that was apparently one of his weaknesses. But I have no idea how reliable these stats are.

I really was hoping for him to see some ice and not make any mistakes. Didn't expect much more than that. This is all gravy. Him actually scoring a couple goals, tops in +/- (yeah yeah it's a weird stat) so far and 3rd in TOI yesterday is just great to see.

Can we just be happy he's doing great? No one's claiming he's the next Orr...

I'm happy for him, just like I was happy for Poehling the night he got a hat trick in his 1st NHL games - in a meaningless against a Leafs team that had already clinched the playoffs. Still, that was one of my favorite games of the year, and overall.

And I still think Poehlong can be something at the NHL level.

I really like what I see from him. A very good prospect for us!!.

Obviously he is not in the conversation for the best d of the tournament.

Think about that...at the same.age Romanov was named the best d at the world juniors.

Only 6 players did it at 18 years old since 2005 and Romanov is one of them..

So when we make our ranking about our best prospect....Romanov has to be number one.....easily..

Not that I'm jumping on the train but it's funny to see Sens fans up in arms as if Karlsson(15th) wasn't miles ahead of Pietrangelo(3rd), Schenn(5th), or Myers(12th) for years. In recent draft years the best player hasn't been 1st overall.

Did you at least watched him play in those 2 years.

I did not missed a single one of his shifts....

The complete package...

Grit
Attitude
Leader
Speed
Mobility
Gap
Shot
Charisma

His only weakness that I found was that on the power play he did always the obvious play. He does not move the box...

But the rest of his play is off chart.

The puck always find him on 5 vs 5. And he is amazing to join the rush.

Alexander Romanov will be on the first pair of the Montreal Canadiens within a year

Chiarot, Mete and Edmonston are ....already not as good as him....wait and see.

Good evening

You're making a lot of conclusions based on a 14 games sample...

Thats often the case, but people seem to put the blinders on year in and year out regarding draft position and the prospects perceived value.

7 Dmen went before Shea Theodore in 2013, how many are better today? Seth Jones? So 1?

Happens every year, and then people look back 6 years later and make comments about players like Theodore were “obvious”. Right. So obvious that how many professionals passed on them?

I'm not arguing whether Romanov is good or bad. FYI I had him ranked our top prospect ahead of Caufield. The point was basing your opinion on the WJs is a recipe for disaster and disappointment.

It is the fun of a hockey forum
It is my opinion and I stand by it. Romanov will be of best left d..very soon and in my view..he is already the best.

How many people saw Stutzle in Germany??

Almost no one and everybody are ready to day that he is a hell of a player because they saw him last year and this year at the world junior.
