All the top players in the league could easily live on the annual interest on their accrued salary, whether it is $6M or $12M. But both of these guys gained benefit from having Nuke, Lehk, and Kadri on the roster, even though the three combined don't make $9M this year. Next season, that trio will make a minimum of $15M this year, and I pray that there is a way for Sakic to do that. Even at that number, I suspect Kadri and perhaps Nuke will receive offers which increase that another $3+M.

I'd like Mac to keep it at around $9M, but I suspect he will want $10M which would still be a home team discount.

I don’t buy it. Unless the Avs give permission, other teams cannot enter into negotiations with Kadri until UFA starts. No way Avs have given permission yet since they plan to start discussions next week. Rags may be interested in PLD (via trade) so I doubt they’d do both. Perhaps it’ll happen but I don’t buy that there’s anything right now. Are you sure Seravalli wasn’t just speculating on Rags interest in Kadri?

There used to be a negotiation window but that was recently removed.

You can argue that teams violate this. I doubt that they would be this brazen. This more sounds like the work of an agent trying to put pressure on the Avs.

I guess an alternative would be some Rags, say PR person, slips info to the media at the behest of management. Technically that would violate tampering rules but would be nearly impossible to prove. In that case the goal would be to signal the Rags’ interest to Kadri’s agent. Still a far cry from a done deal.

As I said, it might still happen. Just don’t see things as being as far along as being claimed.

By the way, if Seravalli is so confident, I don’t see him writing this down anywhere. I assume he stated this on some tv or radio show. I don’t even see a tweet to this effect.

I wouldn't worry about Seravalli it's not like he has an office in Mont-Royal , Interesting group of players under the Quartexx umbrella , NAK and Newhook from the AV's , Letang , Bergeron , Nurse and Nicholas Paul to name a few others . Letang and Bergeron are both up for new deals as well as Kadri so it will be interesting to see how these three domino's fall . Word is Bergeron might be looking for a new team and nobody is sure what Letang wants at all , you have to think these three plus Johnny Hockey in Calgary are the biggest UFA's up for grabs .

The league had a one week negotiation period previously, but wasn’t this scrubbed starting last offseason? Regardless, this is well beyond a week. If he does end up signing with the Rags, I hope the Avs pursue tampering charges if they didn’t give them permission. Would be a smart way to recoup some draft picks.
 
Plus the Rags have to sign 7 roster players with a whopping 10.2 million in available cap , there is some serious money due to some of their own UFA's as well so good luck finding the cash for Kadri . Who are they going to dump where ? Panini ? Kreider ? Fox ? Trouba ? maybe Zibanejad . There's 43 million they aren't looking to move .
 
8x7 to the rangers would be amazing for naz, hope he gets it. That being said it’s going to look absolutely horrible in that system as early as year 2 or 3.

Where did you hear that about Bergeron? Last rumour from a talking head was that he was going back to Boston on a one year deal.

Would be quite perfect if he signed to be the Avs 2C. Good luck scoring against Bergerons line with two of Landeskog/Nichuskin/Lehkonen on the wings.

it was probably a negotiation thing but a couple online guys were talking about him , that is why its called the silly season . He still has some miles left in him for sure .

I don't see how they could do it. Maybe, if they let go of basically all of their UFAs then maybe for next season yes. But it will again be an issue as soon as 2023-2024 when they have to re-sign Miller and Laf.

If so, that's so pretty bad work by an agent. I mean, is it going to be a surprise to the Avs that other teams are interested in their UFA players?? This changes nothing for Colorado. I maintain that they've known for a long time that they wouldn't be able to afford Kadri unless he took a massive, massive discount and he already did that on his last contract.

The only way it makes sense for the Avs is if Nazem's plan is to sign for 2 years with the purpose to then go close out his career in Toronto once Matthews leaves to sign in Arizona. Even then, his agent would lose his shit and strongly advise against that.

It's his time to cash in - go get as much as you can from whoever, Naz - you've got your cup!!

There’s no rumors of Bergeron looking for a new team. It’s either the Bruins or he’s retiring.

There was a question today about him ending up on a contender at the TDL since Boston is looking like they will be screwed for the first half of the season and might not make the playoffs . McAvoy is out until mid December , Grzeleyk is out almost as long , Reilly just had ankle surgery and Marchand is out until Late November early December . Bergy is a Bruin lifer for sure but knowing the team is probably looking at a wasted year is a tough call for him to make about signing a 1 year deal . In any case the point of my post that you missed completely is that there are several Top Tier UFA's on the market that have the same agency that Kadri just switched too a couple of months ago and it will be interesting to see how these domino's fall . Reading comprehension involves reading the whole post and comprehending it as a whole , maybe give it a try sometime .

That would be worse than Grubauer chasing money with an expansion team. At least Gru didn't know that they'd suck like that.

Kadri knows that Detroit is 3+ years away from being competitive and he'll be well past his prime when it happens. That'd be a 100% mercenary move.
