To be honest I'm not sure about Duchene anymore. Very talented and great offensively but he's soft and average to poor defensively. If Kadri can keep this up I think a case could be made for him over Duchene.

Ya, a few years ago you take Duchene every time. Now... not so sure. Kadri might have passed him. Kadri is still getting better and he doesn't even really play with elite wingers either.

I'm with you. If we're going by this year alone then Kadri > Duchene and O'Reilly. I gave Duchene the slight edge due to his longer pedigree and O'Reilly is a toss up at this point. Going forward I can easily see Naz taking the #4 spot in that draft.

Hes been very impressive this season. Shanny and Babs deserve huge props for helping him along too

It`s really their philosophy that you can`t teach skill: Kadri`s got tonnes and he`s learning the game everywhere else. Props to them for sure.

^ Sleeping in. Right.

Why diminish the extent of his life change? Mirtle went on record to call it a "partying problem."

If that's true, and it's behind him, is that not worth celebrating?

Yeah, should probably have a party for it :sarcasm:

He's dramatically changed his game and matured a lot the past 2 years. After his first few years in the league, I think most people believed that his absolute ceiling was something like 20g-50a center that plays in a sheltered C-role. Ideally your #2C, hopefully a #1C, but with another line taking the toughest matchups still.

He's now become one of the absolute best #2Cs in the league that takes on most top defensive matchups and could play as a #1C on a pretty competitive team. The new regiment did an absolute fantastic job transforming him and kudos to Kadri for putting in the effort and listening to management.

Kadri has really grown into a integral core piece this year, good for him and the Leafs!

Hard to believe after all these years. If you would've told us then he'd be a 30g defensively responsible center we'd be ecstatic

If you told me that he'd be this player 5 years ago I would have told you that you were nuts. I still remember those Wilson teams where Kadri couldn't escape Rotten Ronnys dog house. Man he was an awful coach and human being.

A very good centre on a great contract. He is more valuable than a top 4 d man. There I said it.

Ah yes, the 2009 draft when fans went nuts because we didn't draft Magnus Paajarvi

If I am not mistaken Burke was very keen on moving up in order to draft Brayden Schenn

As was everyone else.

Remember Boyd Deveraux was the most hated man because he was the guy who bumped us from 5th last to 7th last on the final game of the season. Turned out to be a blessing (though Schenn is legit)

I think I watched that game at my aunt and uncle's when our families got together for Easter... I'm almost positive my uncle was cursing him out

Kadri was a beast again tonight....he is a core piece and here for the long haul. The man is simply put....a Leaf!

I have never wavered in my support and appreciation of Kadri.

Schenn is actually not very good. Even Flyers fans will tell you he is pretty overrated, he's a PP specialist who is terrible at even strength, sucks as a centre and cannot drive his own offense. He also ranks last on the Flyers in shots against over the last 3 years or so. He's had the benefit of being spooonfed minutes with great players like Giroux, Simmonds and Voracek.

Just loved the goal he scored tonight. It shows that he is giving it all in every play. Pretty sure a few years ago, Kadri probably won't even try to shoot that puck today, but now he is fighting off defender and always try to finish the play.

Kadri proving why giving up on players too early is a bad thing. He took some time to adjust his game and now is a big reason the Leafs are seeing success. Huge season this year for him.

I'll admit I wasn't a fan of the pick at the time, at all.

Naz has made me look pretty foolish. Great Season from him. Awesome contract too.

I've always defended him in the past and he's pulled it together this season.

The talent was always there but he's surprised me with his defensive work. Just incredible to see what happens when you put it all together.

And all of this on an unbelievable contract too!

i dunno if he's better than ROR, but i would take Kadri on his contract almost everytime when you compare them with their cap hits and on ice output
