We found our "Marchand". Next step is hitting 70 points next season (if possible) while being elite defensively and then being able to laugh at the people still calling him "barely a 2C".

I suppose 70 isn't out of the question, after all he's shown steady improvement for many years so who's to say when he'll stop improving? There's so much more to him than points though so not really worried about it either way, just hope that he can sustain his #1C level of play whatever the numbers.

I always felt like Kadri got the shaft playing with inferior linemates. It's amazing had he signed a one year prove me deal after last year, we would be ****ed right now.

4.5M for a guy that plays like he's worth 6.5M minimum.

Yup. Some of us have been saying for years that with better linemates and a better team around him his point totals would go up. Than there were some who were saying ... well, those of us who have been here for a while know what they were saying.

Most of the detractors are no where to be seen anymore. Probably eating some crow right about now.

At a 4.5 million cap hit I would be happy with a 20G/50pt season while being a strong defender. Hes eclipsed those numbers and defensive play. He blew away my expectations this year. Good for Kadri:handclap:

kadri should have dropped the gloves and possibly get hurt or suspended because ref told him to back up if he would have engaged could be suspended based on what happens instead makes smart decision because day after he has to face ovey thats a smart and unselfish vet

I love being right, I love picking winners, never waivered in my Kadri support! Now look at him! This guys Jersey should be a top seller if not for Matthews and Nylander.

I didn't know kadri was so hated by other teams fans. I just watched a video on YouTube of his goal and chirp after wards from last night and the comments were filled with people hating on kadri.
Pretty sweet we have a ~30 goal centre who is also a huge pest lol

I've seen many Boston fans call him 'Marchand-Lite'....

I think any of us who were aware of his unlucky shooting percentage were thinking he was gonna go back to around normal levels this year and put up 25 goals. 30+ has been the cherry on top especially in a shut down type of role. He's become our Kesler, only more hated.

I still think he'll average out to a 25G, 50-55PT player in the next couple years but would LOVE to be wrong.

What's remarkable is that if you look at his most consistent linemates, they still aren't that great, they are just not AHL players anymore or old veterans/over the hill players. I remember reading an article couple weeks back that most of the players that Kadri has played with since his debut, aren't even in the NHL anymore. He's never had consistent linemates.

Kadri plays his best game when he's got a role on this team. He realizes how important he is to the team.

I still think Kadri isn't done yet. There is more to give and I'm sure Babcock will get the most out of him.

Look at Marchand, goes from 50 point player, to 61 points and 37 goals to this breakout season. Kadri can consistently put up 65+ points. That's a #1C.

Back when Boston had soured on Marchand because he hadn't scored any goals for a long stretch of time, and it was rumoured he was available, I realllllly hoped we could pick him up.

My fantasy is a Marchand - Kadri - Gallagher line.

I'd be an amazing 4th line for a Team Canada.

They might never ever get many hits because they're so fast & good at possession.

I'm on record as saying he'll average 55-60 points for the first 5 years of his contract. So far so good. :)

Yup. Kadri has been a very good player for many years now which is why I just laugh every time someone tries to spin the narrative that he has become a player overnight. With the "linemates" context, his numbers have always been quite good and anyone that has watched him without having their mind made up in advance knows it too.

30 goals
Shutdown centre
Elite pest
Homegrown

Love me some Kadri. :yo:

Matthews - Kadri is an elite 1-2 down the middle. The Kadri contract was excellent when it was signed, and even better today. The guy was very good last season, but was super unlucky. This year the puck is going in for him, and has been dynamite at both ends of the rink. What a fantastic player.

He gets under the oppositions skin so much - half of the sabres looked like they wanted to kill him last game lol. Better they focus on that than scoring or doing other stuff that ya know, may actually help them win the game

Depending on his role, you could actually be low on your estimate...

nice to see him really find his game

Yeah could be low, wonder how many points he could put up on a line with Marner and Nylander. Not that that will happen or should happen, just a fun thought. 60 points in his current role with his current wingers is probably as valuable as 70+ points in an offensive role.

LOL is right.

Should be going up against Ovechkin tonight I guess, should be a good one.

Kadri is pretty despised outside of Leafs nation. I mean the guy is so polarizing within his own fanbase so it's not surprising  It does bother me that people resort to racist comments though. Lots of Arab and Muslim slurs.

I'll take a good player who contributes to the team's success over "entertaining" bickering :dunno:

One of maybe 3 players who showed up today to play. Hey team, play more like Kadri and things should be okay.
