From what I’ve seen he looks pretty much exactly like he has throughout his entire career. Which is fine enough I suppose when he’s playing on the third line. Lacks the explosiveness and ability to create dangerous opportunities for himself and his linemates.

he lacks explosiveness in his skating but i disagree that he doesn't create dangerous opportunities. he's constantly funneling the puck and his body towards the netfront.

Cuylle 3 points in 4 games and both Chytil and Kakko 2 points in 4 games is not bad for a third line.
Minimum 30 minutes of ice time, they’re currently a top 5 line in terms of xgf.
It’s small sample size but the eye test is showing it as well. They’re controlling possession and getting good chances.
Let’s see what happens vs some good teams though.

it's not just their point production but it's the forechecking too. they've been very heavy on it and I'm seeing very noticeable improvement from Cuylle in particular. He's going right to the net and generating a lot of HD attempts and landing a lot of hits. I know the prevailing opinion on him earlier was that he kinda started floating last year but I'm not seeing it now.

I think that like most rookies he just hit a physical wall last year

I don’t mind the penalties. It means he’s engaged more. That line definitely is close to a lot more.
I did not see the game but I normally would not mind occasional penalties as well. Usually if you are trying hard and playing defense some penalties will occur occasionally.

His line is booty blasting whoever they play against on a nightly basis.

To be fair, they've played nothing but trash teams thus far. What this tells me is they're going to be a net positive against shit teams and probably break even against good teams and in the playoffs.

I wouldn't move him. it's a case of a player that needs more minutes but he's on a wagon of a team and he's not going to get it right now. He's still very useful to us at his current cap hit.

Thats not what the data says.
Let’s see what happen vs a good team, because you’re making a big assumption.
Good teams don’t always have strong 3rd lines, which is what they’ve been seeing.

Yeah he's been putting the puck to the net with a teammate there and generating some good scoring chances that way, and has been in front of the net himself a lot...he's looking a lot better than he did at the end of last year, hopefully taht line can just keep rolling.

The eye test says otherwise.

I'm not going to get into a fancy stats vs eye test debate. That line has produced consistent chances and they have put up points. They'll only get better as the season goes on

I’m not sure you’re arguing against me here?
I’m saying the metrics are saying that line is playing great, the eye test matches that.

Kakko is the king of xGF. I feel like the at statistic really shouldn’t be taken into consideration for I’m anymore.
