exactly. being shaped like an oversized oompa loompa didn't stop him from skating fast or sniping. not a fan of the gravity influencers....but just saying...often isn't a big deal in hockey, which wouldn't seem possible if there weren't so many ham planets around the league proving it.
I do not know how he did it. I feel much slower even if I just have a decent size meal before playing.

I do not think weight is KK's issue. Honestly I do not know what his issue is. There have always been guys in sports that can look really good at times but do not do it consistently for a season. Charles Barkley says most NBA players have the talent to average 20ppg but its the guys that have the desire to do it night after night that are the all stars.

Rangers have been trying to replace Hagelin since 2015. Rangers have been trying to replace Fast since 2020. Neither guy ever hit 40 points but their presence is missed #keepkakko
I'd like another Hags in his prime. Not really looking for another Fast. If KK can play like Hags on the 3rd line than that would be great. Sadly I think Hags could beat KK in a race with his skates on the wrong feet :D. Will be thrilled if KK can raise his game to a similar effect that Hags had for us in his prime.

11 Games to go till the Trade Deadline

Henrique seems to make a lot of sense on the Rangers but what would the cost be to get him? Was listening to NHL radio this past week. Said the Rangers likely won't move Kakko for a Rental. Also heard the report Dolan doesn't want Drury to move the 2024 1st. Can you get Henrique w/out moving Kakko or a 1st. With 2 rental players off the market already, both garnering 1st round selections in return what does that do for Henriques value? I think he is going to price out for what Drury is willing to spend. HATE the idea of a 1st or Kakko being moved for an expiring asset. Also would be concerned if the idea was to re sign him. Like the player, but he's 34. Would hate to see him reup, then fall off and its Goodrow all over again.

If...that is the case. what does the plan B, or C look like.

Wonder if Drury would be able to swing a deal for Yegor Sharongovich? Singed for another year after this season. Bumped up to CGY;s top line. Are they showcasing? He was a big part of the Devils success. Very versatile. Played pretty much every forward position. The Devils had a really strong coutner attack off the rush. I think he fit into that system really well. Seems like he had a really high hockey IQ. Had a really good shot, and a strong shooting percentage. The negatives were his facoffs, where he is terrible.

How much of an upgrade would Sharongovich be over Brodzinsky, and could Drury get him w/out coughing up Kakko? I think even if he moved the 2024 1st, kept Kakko and used maybe a Berard, or Jones in a return would that be enough to get him out of CGY?

Would be interesting to see what a line of Cuylle Sharongovich Kakko could do down the stretch into the playoffs.

I'm at this point more worried that if Kakko is traded, his first stop is Finnish media to air his grievances against the organization.

This.

For the price and age of Kakko and what he provides he is an asset to a winning club. Regardless of his draft number and the expectations that go along with it, he's the type of depth player a playoff team adds for a 3rd round pick. No reason to send him the other way

He could also get his confidence back and provide a lot more offense than what hes providing now, which is 40+ points

Can not imagine what he has to complain about. I do not think he would do that but if he did he would only hurt himself.

i don't either, i just enjoy fat jokes. plenty of hockey players have the body of a professional bowler tho.

I just hope he doesn't have a Drouin like career where every once in a while he has some production to tease people in to thinking he is going to become a big producer but it never really happens consistently. Id love for KK to become the real deal but until he does Im not going to plan on it anymore in my heart and head.
I feel like the first thing that needs to happen for Kakko is for the equipment manager to unearth a couple of Zuccarello's old super long sticks, put one of them in Kakko's hands and say "Use this".

Some people can just do it, defying logic. Chris Farley moved like a Chippendale's dancer.

If Kakko gets the shitty end of the stick again this year, I don't know if I'm going to be able to watch as many games as I usually do. Only so much self-sabotage I can watch before Netflix wins out.

The kid has deserved a reasonably long leash in the top6 since his second season. Trust him with bigger minutes, and I'd put money on him and Kreider being our two most important forwards in the playoffs.
Narrator: Kaapo Kakko has 2 assists all season.

I really hope KK figures things out soon.

A defensively responsible player who scores 40 points without significant PP time is a good thing to have.
The first Chicago goal - he positioned himself correctly in the center of our zone, but couldn't intercept the pass that resulted in GA. At least his thinking and effort were on cue.

I'd like to think he'll figure it out regarding offense eventually. It seems everything (or close to it) is there.

If he was that player now I don't think there would be nearly as much chatter. Problem is he may end up closer to 10-20 points this season. I hope not but that pace has led to concern.

I still believe in the kid...Laf is a perfect example of sticking with a kid until they figure it out.I have confidence kk will eventually figure it out.
I’m hopeful too, I’m just not sure what he needs to do for his game to translate to this level. For Laf it was clear he needed to get faster to create space and make plays. For Kakko sure getting faster wouldn’t hurt but what does he do with that extra time and space when he gets it now? So far not much, his shot pretty good but far from lethal, and he hasn’t shown much playmaking ability either, just don’t know what he needs to take the next step.

Yah, he's definitely not a playmaker. He is not fast. I don't hate the suggestions that he become a defensive forward but it seems like giving up. He should try to make his living in front of the net. Get a little speedier of course.

Kakko is a 2nd overall pick and is not fast. Hagelin and Fast were bottom 6 guys and in Hagelin’s case incredibly fast. They are not the same.

he was that player last year and he has missed 22 games this year. Trading him for a rental would be a dumbass move.
no one in their sane mind would want a rental for Kakks.

I hope he comes thru and don't want him traded at all.

Some blockbuster trade? How knows. Zegras is tempting but I firmly believe if he's really available, he is obtainable without the blue chips involved.
