Narrator: Kaapo Kakko has 2 assists all season.

I really hope KK figures things out soon.
He had an assist yesterday. He has 3 points in the last 5 games and he’s off a major injury. You gonna post this crap again if he gets an assist in the next game?

Only 3 assists. Blah blah blah.

It’s weird man. There are a ton of guys more deserving of your complaints after yesterday. He’s playing fine in a limited role.

no one in their sane mind would want a rental for Kakks.

I hope he comes thru and don't want him traded at all.

Some blockbuster trade? How knows. Zegras is tempting but I firmly believe if he's really available, he is obtainable without the blue chips involved.
I wouldn't be against trading him for a position of need where the player is not a rental. A center would be great although I don't think Zegras is the answer.

well the problem Kakko IS in position of our need.
And yeah Zegras hasn't played center for the Ducks I think. They are deep there AFAIU, but I also think it's obvious he isn't the answer for the centre we need.

You mean the coach where he had his career best season? :D

Said it a few weeks ago and will say it again. Signing Kakko for $4M x 8 years would be an all time great Rangers contract.

His lack of production this season is an absolute godsend for our long term contract situation. Take advantage of it.

100000% bank on him like that.

I like when fans support our NYR players so I will not get upset with your tone.
Nothing I have posted is crap imo. I'm just being realistic about his production. His assist last night gave him 2 on the season not 3. If you want to get mad at me for posting his actual numbers that is okay.

KK was benched for lack of production when Laf and Chytil were producing. KK to his credit took the benching like a pro.

How do you know what they are looking at him as? Some GM may see a lot of potential. His last full season was an 18 goal/40 point season. This year he has missed 40% of the games to date.
You have a point. They are probably looking at his past as well as his present. I hope GMs see a lot of potential. I hope our coaches do as well. With that said in a trade they are unlikely to ignore his production this season. We wouldn't if looking to trade for another teams player whose production was bad this season.

Only it takes two to tango. I just don't think Kakko would sign a deal like that when he's still so young and has had those big expectations for himself too. I don't think he's ready to settle in as a bottom-6 guy.

That said, his next contract would still be cheap for us, so no point in running him out of town while he's a useful player.

Didn't say anything about trading for a rental. Just being realistic. The league is not looking at him as a 40 point player. They are looking at him as he is now.

And the bold is EXACTLY why it would be monumentally stupid to trade him now and why I am pretty confident Drury is not looking to trade him.

I don't think Drury is looking to sell low but I think every NYR player is available if another team is willing to pay full price.

As they should. There are only a few players in this league that are untouchable, and the Rangers have none of them. Well, maybe Fox but that's it. Everything else should be available if you come up with the proper price.

I think Kakko is more comfortable on the 3rd line. Or maybe he just didn't mesh well with Kreider and Zib who, to be fair, haven't really meshed with anyone this year.

4 points in 11 games since coming back from injury, but 3 of those points are in the last 5 games. If he can average around .5 points per game the rest of the way, that would be great. A strong effort in the playoffs would really help too. He's capable of it.

If I was his family or agent that is how I would tell him to approach things. Forget about the first 30 games or so. Just focus on the next 30 games and make sure to average .5ppg in them.

Kakko is in bail out/damage control mode a lot more than most of us would like, but the reality of that is that at 0.5 P/GP, he'd be one of the absolute best third liners in the league. Like, right now.

As much as I want him to get consistent top6 time to figure out that side of the game, I understand Lavi's predicament. ZBad's line doesn't need help defensively, Panarin-Laf are too dynamic to split up, AND Kakko is the ideal third liner right now.

I just wish that if this is what we're commiting to, we'd start working him in on the PK, or getting him out there on some extra shifts when we're defending leads or the opponent's have pulled their goalies.

Kakko absolutely should see PK time. IMO, the answer is splitting up the bromance and putting Zibanejad between Kakko and Cuylle (preferred), or swapping Kreider with Cuylle (Kreider/Brodz/Kakko and Cuylle/Zibs/Wheeler).

Still want to see Panarin in the Zibanejad spot on the PP and Laf to the right side and Zibs to PP2.

I've been suggesting this for a while. Especially now that Bonino is gone, we could use another PKer. It seems like an obvious way to get Kakko more involved in the game and help him build his confidence.

Yes more Kakko on PK for sure, his game is tailor made for it.

Cuylle seems like a good fit for him on the other wing as well, a net crashing agitator is a good match, i am on board the train of trying zibs with those guys for sure. Seems like a case of everyone winning, except maybe kreider, but he can go back to potting absurd totals on the PP.
