like if chosen is right and it was some kind of disciplinary reason, then it has to be said and go into the details later. I’d be fine with that. but leaving us out in the dark is a very bad look
If he made any acknowledgement to that than it becomes the headline. It's something you leave until clean out day and let the team get through today now that the run is over.

the headline is the team lost and the inexplicable decision. I think it goes over far better if the disciplinary reason is mentioned. now it just looks like we have a braindead coach who made an incredibly dumb decision.

Kakko hasn't been anything resembling a difference maker in 3 years here, I don't think kakko being scratched tonight is why we lost.

again, the kid line has been by far our best line and they got almost no time in game 5. I’m not saying they would’ve won with him in, but having the kid line in tact and playing a lot more would’ve given us a better chance to win.

I agree it's not why we lost... I also think it's just another in a long list of stupidity that this coach has shown. His accolades this year is basically.. having shesterkin be in god mode and to ride the power play that David Quinn put together.

Laf and chytil drove that line. We may just see kakko differently but he has no standout attribute and rarely impacts games. That being said I still can't process why stromes line kept getting so much 5v5 fine doing nothing while they should've rode chytils line much more

The Rangers are an awful 5 on 5 team. The kid line was a cinderella story. Dominated tampa bay with Hedman on. Running laps on them. But nope, scratched. Kakko is a 21 year old, gaining confidence. Scratching him in a pivotal game for f***ing Hunt is absolutely inexcusable. Almost Fire worthy.

Welp, hopefully we get a center for Kakko. Gallant already leaving a MAJOR sour taste. Seems like a POS

Watching these players obviously they should be mad but there seems to be a high level of anger on guys and with the way they looked I’m wondering if something happened with this Kakko thing that shook up the locker room

Igor's ascension is very much the same as henke dragging lesser teams much further along than they should've

Stupid decision to scratch him.

As for him being traded, as long as they get back a good return I really don't care. I doubt he ever becomes a star player at this point. His skating is too big of a hindrance and he doesn't seem to have a good feel for finding open lanes or creating space for himself to generate shots and chances. I like the type of player he is but we needed a star though. If he lived up to expectations out of the draft or was even close this team would have been very different.

The scratch: immensely stupid. Strome got knocked out of game 4 with a literal tap on the back. Kakko should have been in over him. We paid the price for it with 11 forwards the latter half of the game.

His career: as much as I love to be a pessimistic joker, this honestly depresses me. I was so immensely excited for Kakko as I've been for no other player before we've even drafted them (not even Laf). I thought he deserved #1 overall at the time, I confess, and invite the hindsight laughs in full.

I just don't know what happened. That electricity and aura he had has been pounded into the ground and buried. There seems to be a curse with us with any young star we get our hands on. Kakko would already be putting up 40+ points developed by most teams, probably knocking on the door of 60+. Instead he's on the verge of being jobless.

I almost hope he does get traded to the Lightning since apparently that's the only way I get to see my favorite Rangers win the Cup.

KK on Tampa would become a nightmare for us no doubt

if shesterkin posts the same Save percentage last year as he did this year we would have had the 6th best GD under quinn in 2020 2021. we have absolutely no defensive structure and we have no forecheck to beat teams that stand up at the blue line.

Yes he does have a standout attribute. He is outstanding winning board battles and possessing the puck in tight spots. He created plenty of space for Laf and Chytil all playoffs. Kakko’s dirty work was integral to the success of that line. The advanced stats show it too.
