Here's a pretty good post-trade interview of Rantanen in Finnish (the Chrome translate option seems to handle it reasonably well). A bit more than your usual pat answers.

To help you along the way, should you use Chrome:
how many people have meetings, how many people will drop the puck = when's the meeting, when's the puck drop
chain buddy = linemate
four-point center = fourth-line center
he is a really good-natured coach = I have a really good feeling about him as a coach

Perhaps but your ignorance of the national broadcast team and my having to spoon feed you like a child tells me how limited you are. I made a post with a typo. Get old with bad eyesight and you’ll see.

btw Your comments on the first post focusing on a nickname versus the core comments reminds me of idiocy of Captain Queeg in the Caine Mutiny.

To close, this dickhead says blank off.

Age gracefully.

Totally this. I've watched three Colorado games with Necas and to me he seems like the same hero puck player in a more freewheeling offense. When the room to do that goes away in the playoffs, I think we'll really see how we won this trade
Honestly don’t care if the perception is that Colorado wins the trade, Necas very well might get a proper production boost and Rantanen might not score at the exact clip he’s been scoring at with the Avs. As long as Rants is having a higher impact on tilting the ice in our favor shift by shift than Necas did, i’m happy.

I was sarcastically referring to my original post where I asked that you use names, not initials or nicknames.

Aho- Rantanen keep showing that by the time of post season they can be a dominating duo in the East. They seemed to create chances every shift

Just need an upgrade over the other wing, again can’t be missing that many chances when it matters

blake is over slotted at his age and level with them. He's great, but need jarvis quality or svech or something.

Feels like Rantanen has missed just as many of the chances as Blake. Not sure not sure you need an upgrade vs just some better puck luck.

History with Rantanen shows us that he’s an constant elite level producer& once they get few more reps under their belts will be dominating with results

For Blake asking to perform at that high level in the biggest games is too much to ask

He wouldn’t basically play in Floridas top9 and they are a team they have to beat

I’ve said that for a bit I’d like to test Hall there

Now prior to the deadline would be the moment for it

No do the stats starting before the 15th.

“So and so has more (insert stat) than anyone since (random date not too long ago that coincided with hot streak) than anyone else in the league.”
Are you trying to say he isn't going to be MacKinnoniemi from now on?? Have some faith!

/s

I'm glad he is producing but not anticipating it to last. I don't mind to be wrong though.

Around the 1hr and 3 min mark, some interesting speculation about what it may take to re-sign Rantanen:

Cliffs notes - Essentially have to beat $14M x 7, the likely max he’d get on the open market, $98M total. So, they need to be over total $98M over 8yrs, likely right at $13M aav or a shade under, maybe try to get him to take deferred $$$ to lower aav. Wonders if they’ll trade him if no extension by 3/7.

Obviously Rants is still finding his way here, and having guys in and out and/or playing sick doesn't help. Throw in a power play that is doing so awful that I think it has to improve at some point. But conservatively, I'd say Rants should have a couple of more goals at this point at least. A few really good chances that he just missed on that I don't think he'll miss on often. And there's been no shortage of him making some really great feeds to guys that haven't gone in yet as well.

Blake on that line is an interesting one. He looks really good pretty much since the Christmas break. He could be on the verge of breaking out or that might not come until next year. I wouldn't be opposed to adding one more good winger if the opportunity arises so you can go back to stashing Blake lower down the lineup but play him up when needed.

Blake is interesting playing “up” for sure. I don’t get all the hate for him playing on the top line. They’re producing chances like crazy that will eventually turn into a large volume of goals. Long term though l, I’m not sure another winger is the answer. To me, it makes the most sense to eventually move Jarvis to Blake’s spot and make the decision on who out of Hall/Blake is going to play with Kotkaniemi and Svechnikov. I like Blake there personally.

I think the focus til the deadline should be on acquiring a C, any kind of C. A 2C might be a reach, but maybe they can pull one with term out of their hat. Also, really need a depth D or 2.

On Rantanen, I still have a good feeling about them re-signing him and hope they get it done prior to the playoffs. If not, I think he walks, too close to UFA to at least see what’s out there at that point.

I think it boils down to fit. Beating 98 mil is the easy part, the harder part is convincing Rants that this is the spot he wants to stay for 8 years.

I wonder how many guys might go the Auston Matthews route of like 4 or 5 years at a high rate and then get another taste of free agency with an ever rising cap (you hope) at that point. There are risks of injury, poor play, or the cap not rising. But the rewards could be potentially enormous as well. Most NHL players have been averse to that kind of thing but a lot of higher end guys could prosper from doing that. If Rantanen ends up being inclined to do something like that, we suddenly lose that large advantage of the 8th year.
