Really sucks. This year really feels like it's shaping up to be a "what could have been" with all the injury luck.

Also beyond frustrating how little info the NYR org gives. I get that all teams are doing this and why they are doing it but it is really frustrating as a fan.

Definitely some kind of ankle sprain. Issue with this vs his other injury is that he was able to skate and do cardio to keep his legs under him. Now, he's stuck without that. I'm sure there are programs they are running to make it so he can do something, likely pool work to lessen his weight on the ankle, but it won't be the same.

This is the kind of injury he is going to need multiple practices after being 100% to work his way back in. So long as it isn't a high ankle sprain, it could be two weeks.

Kids are supposed to be made of rubber. If he's this fragile in his early 20s, imagine how prone he will be in his late 20s and 30s.

They really ought to try and get him to train in the states with Kreider and co. this summer. They had an issue with Kravtsov's conditioning, but whatever Kakko did in Finland didn't work. He shouldn't be this injury prone. Laffy has been through the ringer and throws his body around regularly. Kakko took one hit from Romanov and was done a quarter of the season.

Edit: actually the Romanov hit was a different injury... so that's THREE in one season??

I feel like we've had very few injuries? Kreider, Zibanejad, Trouba, Miller, Goodrow, Fox, Lindgren, Lafreniere, Panarin all have played 70+ games. Strome has played 68. All the injuries were to depth guys.

Yeah, we've been lucky with the top 6 and on defense. I'm speaking about having all of our best players on the roster at the same time. Feels like we haven't had that since Blais went down early on. It's frustrating.

Has anyone? We've basically lost no significant contributor at any point this season. I guess Igor for a couple of weeks.

Yeah probably, but what's that got to do with me being frustrated about our situation? Also how do you know Kakko or Blais wouldn't of made a significant impact? Hence the frustration dude.

They've been on the healthy side of league average on any measure really, even it it doesn't feel like it. (8th fewest MGL, also bottom 5-10 when weighting it by cap hit, TOI or WAR).

True that they haven't had a full roster available since Blais got injured (and only twice before that) but that's not especially unusual for teams in general. 21 teams haven't had a "healthy" game all season.
