I'm about ready for this season to start. I can't remember the last season I was this excited. Probably 2013 when we got Nash.

I don’t remember being this excited for the start of a Rangers season in my adult life. I’ve been excited for hockey season to start with the influx of crazy young talent over the years, but at 33 I don’t think I’ve ever been this hyped for OUR season to start. Panarin/Trouba additions. Genuine talent in its prime, paired with Kaako, Kravstov, Fox and the stable of youth we’ve built up? And the possibility to see the heir apparent in Shestyorkin gets some games?

I think Toronto screwed the pooch with Marner. They didn’t treat him like the player he is and are acting like he should take a “hometown discount” just because. They’re guilty of undervaluing him and getting themselves into a bad situation

I don’t think the rangers will have that issue with Kakko but maybe Kravtsov or something would be a comparable situation if we’re lucky. Hopefully the Rangers handle it better
Look at Trouba, a guy with known "issues", who spent a month in the organization before signing a long-term deal. And this was obviously back in July; It's almost September, and there are a plethora of star RFAs still unsigned.

i think they screwed themselves with the matthews contract and now are trying to make up for it by playing hardball with marner. matthews is making 11.6 for 5 years. mcdavid is making 12.5 but mcdavid's deal bought out 4 UFA years while matthews bought out 1.

The Rangers dragged their heels with Trouba and Buchnevich to make sure both filed for arbitration. They knew they might need the August buyout window.

I'm a huge football fan but I'm so happy we get 5 times the games. It's pretty awesome to have the opportunity to watch these kids almost every day for years.

Can't attend games anymore but I just realized his full name is 2 syllables + 2 syllables: which makes it perfect for the 'Let's Go Rangers' style chant at the Garden....

'Ka - ppo' 'Ka - kko' *clap*clap*clap*clap*clap*

To be a bit more pedantic: the syllables are Kaa-po Kak-ko.

I happened to pass by Kakko at the Helsinki airport this morning. I think he had just landed and was carting his luggage and a Rangers hockey bag. He had his (Rangers if memory servers correct) cap on, pulled near eye level and looked like he meant business!
Isn´t he in the US right now??

Ok, i thought he left for the US 23rd of August and not looking back ;)
I think i read a couple weeks back he was planning on arriving in the US today which is why he was missing the NHLPA Rookie Prospect photo op thing going on now.

They simply aren't going to give him the Matthews deal-period (for a variety of reasons). Is that playing hardball? I suppose.

T1 is Schengen-destinations, which probably means he flies to Frankfurt, Paris or Amsterdam and has a connecting flight there to JFK

Partly correct but T1 is only Schengen flights (Lufthansa, SAS, Icelandic and their check-in only at T1) whereas T2 is split between a Schengen side and a Non-Schengen.

So yea he could've taken a connection with LH via Munich or Frankfurt or SAS via Stockholm/Copenhagen or even via Iceland Air.

And Finnair has a direct flight to JFK.

Anyways :D

Training camp is soon right? Especially with rookies and prospects so he should be heading to NY one would think.

Not that we didn’t already know, but this is truly an impressive highlight package that shows so much of this kids game. Incredible puck control, amazing hockey sense, strong as a bull, sick hands in tight, great shot, good speed. Kaako is probably the realest deal we’ll ever have. I can’t foresee any future in which he isn’t up there in the top tier of young stars in this league quite soon. He’s just the complete package.
Before I first posted that highlight reel, (in another thread) I haven't seen him play. Knew of his record, but never saw him on ice. Then I looked for highlights, and there were many, but this one "the Blade Paradigm" was by far the best. Kuddos to whoever made it,... it was exceptional. It truly captured his immense talent. Every play in that vid looked like he was on the PP, he was that dominating. There were PP highlights but only a small percentage. Although it might have also looked that way due to the bigger ice surface. Still though, he was dominant. His power game will transfer nicely to the NHL.

This season should be very exciting. On top of all the new talent coming in, I'm looking forward to seeing Chytil go end to end more often.

Kakko at 18 played for Team Finland, which captured the gold medal, at the IIHF World Championship most recently. Finland bested Canada, 3-1, in the championship match.

Kakko poured in six goals, leading the team, and added an assist during the team's championship run, which capped an historic 13-month stretch for him. He became the sixth player ever to win an U-18 world championship, world junior championship and men's world championship.

This kid is a winner at the highest levels of international play. Look at him dominate play against the likes of Jack Eichel, Johnny Gaudreau, Ryan Suter and others in this tournament.

LOL why did you lift this whole post from an SNY article? What a weird thing to do.

Potential Rangers draft pick Kaapo Kakko caps historic stretch at World Championships

This is like the Shesterkin thread you made (although presumably that wasn't plagiarized). We all know how good Kakko is.
