Kane and Strome also know how to have fun with their hockey obsession.
“The last couple days Kaner’s been making Dylan text me to try to get a picture of (Rangers rookie) Kaapo Kakko’s curve because they want to see what curve he uses,” Ryan Strome said. “I’ve been in the dressing room trying to find his stick and take pictures for them. That’s their quirkiness.”

Step 1 in building Dylan Strome’s confidence was telling him to find an apartment. Now it’s at an all-time high as he begins his 1st full season with the Blackhawks.

Are there some "rules" that the five or something top picks should make the team on opening night no matter what? Has Kakko met your high expectations so far in pre-season so far? I wish him all the best and hope he set the team on fire along with the rest of the players.

It's only a matter of time till McJesus asks out of the Oil Fire. And guess who has the dearth of prospects to ante up?

(Then I woke up.)

At 18 Kakko is already one of the top six forwards on the Rangers. He makes the team better full stop. To the extent some fans are disappointed he's not top one or two is their problem, not Kakko's. Imagine how good this kid will be in five seasons when he's still just 23. Can't wait.

He might benefit from 5-10 games in Hartford, just to build confidence on the smaller surfaces, but I don’t doubt that he’ll finish the season our 1RW / 1aRW.

5 games in Hartford would be more career AHL games than the last 10 number 2 overall picks have played in their career....combined.

I’m not sure I understand your point. Is that somehow taboo? Granted, if he opens up with back-to-back hat tricks or other consistently outstanding performances, I wouldn’t keep him in the A. Right now, though, he’s our crown jewel. I don’t want to rush him.

My point is 2nd overall picks do not play in the AHL so he will not play in the AHL.

Is that a normative or positive statement?

Is there something particularly difficult to understand here?

There has been a total of 4 AHL games played in 10 years by number 2 overall picks. Therefore why would you possibly expect the path of this particular #2 overall pick to be vastly different than every other one?

“Positive” would have sufficed. No need to be unpleasant. Frankly, you’re attempting to counter a normative statement with a positive one, which is irrelevant.
