Player Discussion Kaapo Kakko

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Does it look like Kakko will be on the first line with Zibs and Panarin? Or will Buch get the chance to take that spot and Kakko on the second line? Asking because I have a fantasy draft coming up and want to do my due dilligence on you guys.

Quinn has said Buch gets first shot at the RW with Zibanejad and Panarin.

Kakko currently slotted to be 2nd line RW with Chytil and Kreider.

Everything I've heard is Kakko with Kreider and Chytil but these things change so much throughout the RS. I'd fully expect him on PP1 though

That phony, manufactured storyline is one of the biggest reasons the league rigged the draft this way so you can simmer down there and put up with it just like the rest of us.

Buch gets first crack on the 1st line but that can’t change quickly based on production. Wouldn’t be surprised to see KK spotted on the 1st PP unit with Zibs and Panarin- they looked dynamic their first game nearly every time they had an opportunity.

I think one of the tradeoffs of Kakko using an incredibly short stick with a whippy flex is that pucks tend to knuckle off of his blade on shots. It's perfectly tailored for his game, as it allows him to protect pucks in his feet and get shots/passes off quick but hopefully he can increase the flex as he gets stronger to prevent extraneous blade torsion on his shots.

I think you have to roll with it and have fun.

They went 1-2 to rivals, there are some who believe they were exceptionally close heading into the draft, and they’re going to see a lot of each other.

Some will turn it into something deeper and personal, but there’s also a chance for it be something cool and unique.

I generally try to avoid people who get stupid with it, but I typically don’t pay those people mind anyway.

And it'll wear off with time. Nobody talks about Eichel and McDavid in the same sentence anymore, Matthews-Laine has been dead for atleast a year and nobody really even compares Crosby and Ovechkin anymore either. The fact that they play on rival teams might prolong it a bit, but I wouldn't fret it.

Spot on perspective.

Ovechkin vs Crosby went on for almost a decade before that fire dwindled. Patrick Division rivalries never die.

Or, in another light if Hughes went to Calgary 1OA and Kakko came to NY, it would be a non issue before Christmas, on the other hand if Kakko went to Edmonton 2OA and Hughes 1OA to Calgary the main boards would be unbearable.
 
I'm not still too comfortable with the idea of starting a career with a unproven C.
 
He’ll probably only play the home games with the A squad like all teams seem to be doing these days, nothing to worry about
