I honestly don’t care what number he picks, as long as he makes that number his, and we’ll think of that number every time we hear his name.

"Certainly expecting" Kakko to outproduce 36 goals and 64 points (in not even a full season) is ridicolous.
Why is it ridiculous, again?

And you might want to read my sentence again and how "certainly" was used. You're misrepresenting me. "Certainly expecting" is not "expecting to certainly".

I'm probably higher on Chytil than a lot of people here but I think he's going to have a breakout year. Kid has a ton of talent.

I think he is going to be good as well. I'm higher on Andersson and Howden than most as well, with all 3 it's going to take longer than we might have been expecting imo.

As long as he doesnt take number 13....nobody ever lasts in NY with that number. My hockey number growing up and I can never buy a Jersey because they are usually shopped out in 3 years.

Like the played but still not feeling that number. "So blannnnd" (anyone get the reference?).

If anyone thinks Kakko has a chance to win the Calder which I personally do, it should not be unexpected for him to not put up a 30-30 type of season.

Been reading the posts and alot of y'all are severly under stating the #'s y'all think he'll end up with which is fine but IMO the numbers that have been bandied about seem really low.

Now we all do not know what line he'll be playing on or who for the most part he'll be playing with,it's a safe assumption he'll be a Top 6 guy. If that is the case and if he ends up playing the majority of the time with Mika and Panarin whether on their line or on the 1st PP unit, it's not crazy to think he'll approach 60 points seeing that Artemi and Mika both will likely finish with minimum of 75 points if not 90 for Panarin most likely.

I know most of us have never experienced a rookie putting up #s like this but I'm old enough to have seen it happen. I've seen players like Steve Vickers score 30 goals his rookie year and win ROY. I've seen Mark Pavelich in the early 80's score almost 80 points his rookie year. I've seen Tony Amonte score 30 goals and almost 70 points his rookie season. I've seen Tony Granato score almost 40 goals in the late 80's.

Heck I've seen Petr f***ing Prucha score 30 goals and almost 70 points his rookie year. Guess what peeps, Kappo has more talent than all of them from what I've seen of all these players thus far.

IMO it would actually be a disappointment if Kakko finished with less than 50 points to be honest. I don't think I'm being unrealistic here in saying if Kakko stays healthy, he should most definitely approach the 30-30 neighborhood in a most likely Calder winning year.

Just a correction as the owner of an authentic Prucha jersey (hey, I was a teenager who got caught up in the hype), he never got close to 70 points in his rookie season or any season. He did score 30, but he only had about half was many assists. He was the beneficiary of the Jagr effect.

Because you're expecting it, not hoping for it.
Yeah, 65+ points is what I'm expecting, not hoping. But this is assuming 82 games played, let's remember that. I still don't know what's ridiculous about that, though.

What aspect of Kakko's play do you think will hold him back too much for that to be possible? I also think that Rangers as a team have vastly improved.

Stamina due to diabetes perhaps? Not sure how that deciese (lol spelling) affects an athlete over a full season. Any other nhl players who were diabetic so i could get an hint?

It'll all depend on who he plays with. Playing with some like Panarin will boost anyone's production by 20 points easily

Then again, half the time he's the one creating the chances. Think Ranger fans will naturally be conservative here because we're not used to having a prospect this high-end

Kakko is in a first-class organization. You can bet your keister that he will receive the best medical care and maintenance available. His diabetes management is a non-issue.

It didn't hinder him at all last season and during the tests TPS did, he had the best results when it comes to endurance

saw on Twitter some nice comments about KK from JD. Impressive.
Got to go a bit further with last tough jump to NHL, but a real eye opener so far.

My initial expectations, not wanting to go too far with our hopes, is this would be a top beast +.
However JD is now saying, to effect, he sees him make good plays at high speeds, etc.

So yeah, let's not rush the kid, and I am still for using this lefty shot at 1LW on a line w/Krav [demonstrating superior vision/passing skills as I said he would] at 1C, and add to that Panarin [a righty shot playing LW, for defense and face off purposes, go to your natural side, then on offense all Fs play as you are comfortable].

But down the road, if we elect to go there, KK may ALSO be a good choice for C. Options are nice.

The key will be chemistry, which is highly individualized and remains to be seen.

I don't know what kind of expectations I could possibly set on him. I mean if he gets the Crosby treatment coming into the league, then everything's possible I guess. But I doubt that very much and he's not likely to start off in the 1st PP unit either so it's going to be a process. However if he gets to play with Panarin, that's going to boost him up tremendously. I think he's as ready as any 18 year old prospect can be, so it'll depend on does he comes out of the gates guns blazing and how he will be utilized. Next to Panarin or Zibanejad, or maybe neither (hopefully not).

Even JD previously said let's not overpressure the kid. Good thing is that he doesn't need to be The Man on this team.

You are 100% correct about Prucha not having anything close to a 70 point rookie season. I think I was thinking about Granato and Amonte’s rookie seasons where both came real close to 70 and inadvertently included Prucha

Played 86 games last season.

And he was #1 in beep test(Stamina) for his Liiga team of professional athletes.

Kakko is a diabetic? Type 1 or 2?

There is a product called UCAN that was specifically designed for someone with diabetes. Energy, fatigue, health etc. won't be an issue with him. At least not while he's young. I'm sure the doctors or Prentiss have had him use it.
