He looked good wearing 19, though that’s obviously not an option.

I guess 24 depends on if Nieves makes the team, or if he feels like making a trade.

Well this explains how'd it even be possible for NHL "pro" to consider Kakko a Swede I suppose. I hope no one goes and tells that to his face though, cause then he'd have every right to punch him where it came from. :D

I've been asked if I'm Swedish a few times when travelling in the USA. I take it as a compliment.

I just had a sick thought. I'm about to turn 33 and when I'm 50 Kakko will only be slightly older than me right now and could still be playing.

Edit: Although that also makes me feel old. :(

We are same year, and had the exact same thought this past week.

Will be 50 in 2035 - Kakko will be 35.

3 cups - 2022, 2024, 2027.

I’d be surprised if a deal wasn’t reached, if both guys are with the organization, and if it truly mattered to Kakko.

AK mentioned seeing him wearing 5 or 6 different numbers in a short period of time...i'm not sure he cares as much as fans do about 24

Have to imagine that Nieves is aware enough to realize and recognize all of the factors & circumstances involved... More specifically his lack of having solidified a more permanent spot and role in the lineup (thinking long term here) - and then the circumstances surrounding Kakko and him being a highly touted draft pick that the organization is going to want to market and sell merchandise around...

They aren't going to want Kakko choosing one number for a few months or an entire season - and then changing it as soon as #24 becomes available...

Either Nieves will recognize the circumstances and proactively volunteer to give up #24, or someone from the team or organization will approach him about it in a respectful/professional manner and he'll be understanding and offer to choose another number...

I personally hope he doesn't wear #24 just to stick it to the people that risked jinx us by buying his jersey before the draft...don't mess with karma

Really?

Is this a thing?

A number can't be THAT important to either player.

Hes born 01, So it might not be impossible he picks #10
I’d be happy with 10, but in NHL 19 I signed Panarin and gave him #10 which I think would look good on him if we get him lol

For Kakko idk 24 is what most associate him with, I think 34 would look good as well. Maybe 87 or 91. Or 8 would be cool for when he dethrones Ovi as the best goal scorer in the NHL
