Isn't that like, normal? Sure, some teenagers might forget about manners but this is the same thing as taking your hat off when you go inside, open the door for the ladies etc.
It should be but it's something that seems to be getting less and less in these modern times.

Looking at Statman Steven's Twitter account I found some great analysis in the replies from one of my fellow Finns.

"Sorry but Kakko is selfish player, losing pucks, turning and rolling inefficiently in the corners. In NHL, when taking time and space away by strong players, he has no role whatsoever. Compare with Puljujärvi (still) in Edmonton. NYR got rousette skater."

The same guy has also posted pretty similar garbage about Kakko in Finnish. If I was on Twitter, I'd love to ask him in November if he still feels the same way.

I guess I'll say this here since people were complaining about the NBCS coverage of the draft. NHL network had the re-broadcast of the SportsNet version of the draft coverage and while it wasn't perfect, it made NBC's look like amateur hour. Imagine this, they had a nice format going where after the pick was made they did a quick interview with each GM and then each draft pick and actually asked pretty good questions to both.

During the Kakko pick, instead of showing 2 minutes of highlights of a player they are comparing them to, they had the novel idea of showing highlights of Kakko. Actually I really liked that they chose a shift from the WC where Kakko controlled the puck for an extended period while fighting off defenders. He didn't even score on the play but it really showcased a lot of the skills that could make him special. Kudos to them on that and the one guy that disagreed with somebody else on the panel claiming "Kakko is a good consolation prize".

If you didn't know, Steve is our resident globetrotter @Amazing Kreiderman

Sportsnet has the rights to do the draft show in Canada, and NBCSN's draft show is some sort of hodgepodge of the NBC crew and the TSN crew mixed together, so I'm not surprised their coverage is a little more put together

I'm as hungry as anyone for all this Kaapo content, but these twitter clips feel so forced. Like the PR guys are telling him what to say, just leave the kid alone. I would rather have him speak his native tongue and be authentic with a translation. Maybe i'm just being a negative Nancy, idk...

Which ones specifically?

He had media obligations that every other prospect has. I haven't seen anything outlandish.

Edit: Okay I just saw the most recent one, I kind of agree.

I think Kaapo is going to hide in his hotel room for a day or two and unwind the first chance he gets.

Yeah, the recent one was what triggered me but I think i'm just being over critical. He just doesn't seem comfortable in front of the camera yet so I hope they eventually give him some time and space to adjust.

Ya, I feel the same way. Not to be fit all Finns into the same Karjalanpiirakka but they seem to enjoy their privacy and own tempo.

To be fair, I'm fairly sure Kakko has bee expecting some of this and has had some good lessons on this already. Winning the U20, winning the WHC for the country that goes most apeshit about it...

But he is Finnish after all and from what I read from his teammates during the season he was not the most vocal lad in dressin room (obviously, since he was the one collecting the pucks after practice ). But I don't think he's having trouble with it. Young kids, they are quick to adjust.
