Here, the Nordic life cycle. It's lucky we get Kakko during that middle part. Dolph was actually a pretty lean and strong kid however old he is there. Hardly an ounce of baby fat.

People also have different body types and bone structures. The fact that Kakko can be as big as he is and still be excelling in endurance tests from reports is very encouraging.

People need to let the dream die that our not fast players will spend an offseason with barb underhill and be fast. There's only one Brayden Point in the NHL.

Here's 185kg for 6 from a couple of years ago, after deadlifts. KK should come train with me.

Well, there's at least one more. Think of carbon, the colour black and scots.

PS. If this one is tough, add desperate righthanded left defenders.

PSS. Or any defensemen in general.

Endurance was a large weakness as a rookie and he improved last year but definitely still wasn't a strength. After 35-40 seconds you could still feel him pushing past his limits anime style, the best can go 5-10 seconds more before lead legs set in. Would be awesome if he continues to improve. Where are you hearing about endurance tests?

Endurance and explosiveness is my main worry. There have been previous criticisms of Hannu Rautala's fitness coaching on hfboards (so take that with a grain of salt) that he focuses mainly on just pure strength and mass. Especially young players have come out initially sluggish after putting a lot of muscle on and that a skating coach would be a great benefit. Though it's good to see that for example the running of the stairs to top of the hill is on the regime, that should build up some endurance.

Reasons he will succeed:

a) Gallant is the perfect coach for a player that is prone to self-blame
b) He has worked closely with Rantanen for another summer, it has to start showing

His last year was bit of a lackluster, and since he is hometown kid with good attitude and perfect environment, I would be quite disappointed if he didn't take positive steps this year.

Yea as a Harlem kid there’s a lot of pressure on him

bud, i get your take yet if he didn’t have endurance he wouldn’t have even been drafted in the top 10 or be in the NHL today imo. When you play hockey, how do you not get in shape by simply playing? He’s a young kid strengthening both his legs and back. He has a very long road before he’s packing on a ton of muscle.

His last year was absolutely not lackluster.

He was a dominant player who did like...everything, except for put the puck in the net.

They will come.
