Do people just look up players hometowns and then throw up a trade proposal swapping them back to their hometowns? That's what this is and it's not the first time it's happened.

Leafs don't need Henrique. Value doesn't even need to be discussed. They need a RD with top 2 potential and if JVR is moved, it is for someone of that ilk.

Absolutely.

But trading JVR leaves the Leafs with very little in the way of veteran top-line talent to anchor the team while the rookies grow. I do agree though, if he goes it's for a steady top four presence.

Oh i'm not advocating moving JVR, i'm just saying if we do, we should target our biggest need.

they basically have identical PPG average for their careers....

Henrique- 203 points in 349 regular season games (0.58 PPG), 13 points in 24 playoff games (0.54 PPG)
JVR- 277 points in 446 regular season games (0.62 PPG), 22 points in 46 playoff games (0.48 PPG)

Henrique plays the tougher position and is more of a 2-way player than JVR. He is also signed for 1 year longer and for less money AAV than JVR

I agree, for me as a Leafs fan, the only reason i pass is due to need....we don't need more centers, we need D. Has nothing to do with Henrique as a player...

As far as hometown boy, i live 5 minutes from Henriques home town of Burford Ontario...i guess i should favor him....

For the Leafs, Henrique would be a slight downgrade as a LW, and they don't need any more centers.

LW is the Devils' strongest position (Hall, Cammalleri, Boucher...). They would be worse off trading someone capable of playing #1/2 C for a guy who is a pure left winger.

Value is close, but it makes both teams worse.

I'll take the 50 point twoway center over the 55 point winger who's terrible defensively

Relatively even in a vacuum, but team needs are a reality. And in that reality neither team does this.

Neither team does this.

They're not that far off from each other, but Toronto does not need another center and Devils don't need another offensive left winger with questionable defense.

If the leafs are trading JVR it's either for prospects and picks or a RHD top 4 dman.
