This is their 6th year playing together and its just coming out this year how bad it is....

I dont think they've been that public at all.

Heck nobody even knows why Miller took a personal leave for a month. My suspicion is a locker room physical incident occured but nothing has been leaked.

It's been known for awhile now that they don't like each other and VAN's front office has openly criticized Pettersson to the media multiple times this season.

It's weirder for a kid his age to not have instgram and resorting to calling him "clout chasing" for using it is wildly boomer-speak. And got it. Haning with huge hockey fan and celebrity Michael Buble is somehow a knock? You from Abbottsford ? Genuinely wondering because nothing EP40 does is much different than most people his age.

Just so we're on the same page, I was describing Pettersson from JT's perspective. Not my own.

I don't consider any of those things a knock on a person, whether they're Steve from Abbotsford or Bjorn the professional athlete from Sweden. I thought it was insanely awesome that Petey went to Max Martin's estate with Buble. Made for great content.

He was a bit immature early on - that's allowed.
He's not the most macho guy - you need all types.
He's quiet - not everybody is the class-clown.
He's single - doesn't have a family of his own to provide for or go home to.
He's not built like your typical athlete - just put your work in at the gym.

But those are all ammunition that JT has used against him when he's not keeping up his end of the bargain.

Obviously JT has shown abysmal effort at times, and has his own list of negatives from a guy like Pettersson's perspective. But unfortunately this is a cruel, tough, physical sport. Displays of toughness and toxic masculinity will always prevail over meekness. Petey can't even clap back.

I still think the Avs make the most sense as long as Miller would waive there. Have it be Miller for Mittelstadt with some minor futures added by the Avs and I think that deal gets done. Miller's value is in the gutter but I still think they could get futures with Mittelstadt, probably just not a 1st.

Mittelstadt, Olausson (reclamation project prospect) and a 2nd for Miller seems like a fairly reasonable guess.

I don't think that moves the needle. at 22 I doubt Olausson has any value. Mittelstadt and a 2026 2nd I don't think gets you Miller

It's worse because the Canucks are not in the playoffs and have taken a setback from where they were last year. If the Canucks were in the playoffs and playing well, this story fades IMO.

It's a very strange situation and difficult to know how much of an issue it really is. This could be as simple as the Canucks struggling on the ice and the team prefers to unload one of them to retool their depth charts. Canucks do have depth issues

Pettersson not producing to his contract this season makes it worse as well.

In a vacuum, I think Kotkaniemi, Morrow and a 1st for Miller is totally fair. But when you include:

1. Miller is having a poor season
2. JR just confirmed the rumors that there is a locker room issue, and basically admitted there is no way that they can keep both Miller and Pettersson.
3. Miller has a high AAV, term and a NMC

Sort of. It goes back up if the Canucks are dealing with more than one team. At that point they are trying to outbid each other, which counters the fact that Vancouver is determined to move him.

It's an interesting and kind of crazy situation. As has been Miller's whole career, I guess.

On a sense, I agree. JT Miller would give the avs an absolutely incredible top 6. And getting guys with that type of offensive production aren’t usually cheap.

At the other end though, I don’t think the Avs are all that fond of bringing in his character. The AVS have said numerous times that they want to target guys who fit the room. Now, if this was 2-3 years ago when they had more leadership in the locker room, i think JTMs locker room issues would be kept in check. But with landeskog not there, no Cogliano, no EJ, etc, it’s not the same leadership level as it was.

Remains to be seen.

almost a ppg on a down year doesn't lower his value. Locker room issue I agree does, but if multiple teams are asking about him, in the end I doubt it moves the needle in a negative way much.

term maybe affects it, but 8m is not a high AAV for a 1st line center. It's actually low end AAV now. NMC is only an issue if he gives 1 team. If 5 teams are asking and he will waive for 3 or 4 of them, NMC is a non factor. As for the term, by the time his expected decline happens, 8m will be what 60-70 point players get, and he will yet again be around what his AAV should be.

We are all speculating about his value, and will need to wait and see. I think the deal happens before 4 nations.

Being 31 signed as long as he is at that cap hit is what lowers his value. That, and, regardless of what anyone personally thinks about the situation, reality is there is at least some perceived risk given how things have spiraled in van. It’s also made van something of a forced seller, though they retain the option of trading ep.

I know it sucks, i feel bad for the disaster this season has been for van fans. The reality is that any return for jt miller is going to be tough to stomach initially. They could get someone who way outperforms expectations, land someone with a pick, or eventually use those pieces to add an important piece in the future. The initial reaction though, if they move him, is going to be closer to the low end of proposals than what van fans would consider value that equals jt miller.
