Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

Thought he had a good second game. I was wondering if there was a massive gaslighting operation when people said he was the "best forward" in the game against NJ, thought he was mid at best and brutal at worst, rarely on time with the play. Looked better against worse competition on Wednesday.

Hopefully improvement is consistent. He has nice tools to work with and will likely have a shot with decent players to start the season, there is an opportunity to have a good D+2 here.

No no no. Don't you know you can't possibly think Hughes or Gorton can make any mistakes. It's heresy.

It's almost a religion now. A sect.

Yet, they still haven't proven much.

Yeah, but replacing an idiot and doing better than him is not a tall order.

The yardstick shouldn't be Bergevin. The yardstick is winning it all.
Oh independent of that, you can see it.

I don’t see any prospect/young player of real note who hasn’t shown improvement since they’ve been here.

They’ve been here less than 2 years? lol all the young guys are just arriving in the AHL this season…

thats my point, they haven't developed anyone yet, so how can they be graded on it?

Geez... Can we be more patient with our best young prospects. It is obvious that Slaf got great potential. It might take 2-3 more seasons to reach his full flight speed. He's gonna be a very special player for years to come.

I am ready to say that Cooley and even Wright will have better next couple of seasons. And they don't have to play in a very demanding and crazy market like Montreal. But Slaf will become another Nash or LeClair.

I know that I am not patient and optimistic with some... especially Mesar.... But hopefully the org will take the best decision about his development.

I see rantanen as a bit of a comparable. scored 20 goals at 20...only became a legit monster at 21+.
That give Slafkovsky two more years at least

I wanted Wright. I flipped between Cooley, Nemec for awhile because I didn’t expect to get 1OA. Once we got 1OA, I wanted Wright. Nothing has changed for me.

I had it
Wright
Cooley
Nemec

Still love Nemec a lot. We will see how it ends up. I’ve got a ton invested in Slaf and hope he succeeds. I think our approach to his development has been terrible.

Slaf’s size and capacity to tie a pair a skates guarantee him a career in the NHL.

I’ve slightly soured with Slaf. Perhaps, I’m demanding and impatient, Still, if Slaf ends up worse than Wright, to me it’s because Slaf won a race to the bottom.

What others see as Wright’s high level processing skills, I interpret differently. He needs to score regularly to be effective. He just doesn’t get enough pucks on net.

Soured on Slaf after he’s been having a good camp and after he visibly improved from last year and all camp long?

Soured on a 19 year old after 39 games in the NHL lmao.

Can we talk about Slaf in his own thread, please

He’s starting to show a glimpse of what he will become and that player is gonna be a unique dominant one. No one will talk about Cooley or Wright or Nemec anymore in a few years or months even.
There will always be comparisons which will be drawn. It s fine it s part of the draft process. ;)

The only rational response to Slafkovsky is, "Wait and see". But hundreds of posts repeating variations of "Wait and see"? No thanks. Sounds like the most boring rational thread ever.

So I'd like to personally thank each of you for your continued drama-queening over his every shift. It may not be rational, but it makes for a much better reading experience.

I wish the Habs could have a prospect that is more “wow, he’s special!“ and less “wait and see”. Subban was “wow, he’s special!”, Price was “wow, he’s special!”, meanwhile Galchenyuk, Kostitsyn, Kotkaniemi, and even Drouin were “wait and see don’t be a bad fan”.

But it is what it is, we have to wait and see if Gorton’s fetish for rushing wingers to the NHL will bear fruit finally.
