14 million to re-sign Kreider, Moore, Brassard and Zuccarello. I don't see Sather doing anything else besides signing those guys.

Just like we heard "this team is mediocre and 'anything can happen' is a sad joke that idiots buy into" until they won the ECF.
It goes both ways.
Kreider was a rookie this past year. His first "season" was in the playoffs only. The year after that was a shortened season where he rode the bus up and down all year.

It seems that Miller is on the same path Kreider is so... he should make the team this year than right?
I understand that technically Kreider was a rookie. Only pointed out that he is not typical because he participated in his 3rd season. He was no longer a 19 year-old fresh from juniors or college.
Can anyone here explain to me how Zucc qualified as a rookie. What am I missing about him?

Glass is a Dorsett-replacement who also kills penalties. 50k cheaper. Dorsett had very little impact on the Rangers team last year - Moore and Boyle were the catalysts to that awesome 4th line.
The handful of times I saw Pittsburgh last year - he looked no worse than Dorsett. Bit slower, bit nastier - Carcillo, effectively - but from what people say, he's well liked in the room, and is eminently coachable. Carcillo doesn't appear to be.
He is what he is. If we can replace the other 4th line wing (Boyle's spot) with a decent energy player who also kills penalties, the team is potentially better. We'd go from 2/3 4th line forwards being on the PK to 3/3.
Kreider @ 2.5m, Moore @ 1.25m, Brassard @ 4m, Zucc @ 4m = 11.75m (give or take). If Ott'll take 2m to be a 3rd line C/4th line LW, he'd be a great pickup for the remainder.

there are 2 reclamation projects just BEGGING for the Rangers to sign them.
1)Booth. Speedy guy, has been a 30 goal scorer in the past, but his game disappeared in Vancouver. Perfect buy low guy. His style fits this system, but there are injury concerns. Guy could thrive here though. 1 year 1.2M?
2)Ribiero. Attitude concerns? Locker room concerns? Rangers have leadership out the wazoo. MSL, Nash, Girardi, Staal, McD, Stepan...all leaders. Im not worried about that. Great player, borderline elite 2nd line center. Has put up multiple 60+ point seasons in his career. 1 year 2m?
I think if the Rangers could grab either of those 2, id be VERY happy. If they dont work out, no biggie, if they do, they could hit a home run, the way they did with Stralman, Pouliot, and Moore.

No to Riberio, but David Booth as LW is the type of swing you take for a very cheap Pouliot replacement. I pick him a million times before someone like Dustin Penner or Danny Heatley.

Absolutely agreed on #1. As for #2, what were the "off the ice concerns"? If he was a PITA, maybe you bring him in and trust to the leadership to get him under control; if he was boozing his face off, we don't want another Fleury under the West Side Highway scenario...

Youre lineup balances out so much better like that. and you can roll all 4 lines like AV likes to do without cringing everytime the 3rd or 4th line gets out there.

And those went just about as you'd expect them to.
Fleury played well here, at times, but was insane and chock full o' demons. Ozolinsh was brutal.

yeah bozo sucked, Fleury was part of our best line for a long time before sather traded York for Poti.
Anyways, again it's a buy low situation. 1 year for 2 mil for Ribiero could be the steal of the offseason. With the cap situation the Rangers are in, these are the kinds of moves they have to do. Especially w/o having any prospects that are shoe-ins to be NHL regulars right out the gate.

The fact that Maloney said Ribeiro is "seeking help" this summer leads me to believe that his issues are substance abuse related and probably more than just a bad attitude. It's a distraction the Rangers don't need and I'm sure it's something they'd prefer to stay away from after the Boogaard fallout.

hmmmm....thats a tough call...hes clearly got issues....
again, i think 1 year...super cheap. id probably give him a chance. Sather loves giving guys 2nd...3rd...4th chances...esp when they come cheap.
