Prediction: we'll see the "this is a bad team" thread after three weeks, then go on a tear like always.

I remember very few offseasons where people didn't think we got worse and everyone else got better. This is how it works around these parts. :laugh:

I'd take Ott on the 4th line LW. 1 year $1 million.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash
Hagelin - Brassard - Zucc
XXXX - Miller - MSL
Ott - Moore - Glass
Carcillo
 
Steve Ott, Brian Gibbons, Ryan Carter. There are still options for that last 4th line spot.

I think Ott is passed his prime. Good face off man, good pest. But not as effective as he had been in the past.

He didn't suck. He just isn't a top-6 player anymore. Bottom-6, hard-nosed, PKer, good on faceoffs. He is more suited to the wing now
 
Before I was in favor of letting a defensively responsible kid have that spot (Oscar Lindberg would be my wish) to learn from D. Moore. But having Glass on the other wing means both of his linemates need to be really good, to make up for how bad Glass is.

That contract. Just. Garbage.
 
If people are getting angry at the Rangers for not signing Downie then they are just being angry to be angry at this point. Downie sucks.

I'm reading from the main board and here about Glass. Is he really that bad of a hockey player? Why on earth is he so bad that he is in the NHL? Please someone explain this to me.
 
I'm less worried about that other 4th line spot than I am the holes at center and LW. I think Bourque might have a decent chance at breaking with the team out of camp, but there are also a number of 4th liners still on the market. Any one of them could end up being invited to camp on tryout.
 
Am I the only one dreaming of a cheap Peter Mueller signing? injury prone indeed and has been rumored to have an attitude problem (something a year away from the league and a last chance hopefully has changed). I just love how he looks on the ice though, the guy has so much hockey in him. 2nd line center for a bargain? Or is he much better on the wing?
 
I would have liked Ott 5 years ago, but he's horrible now. Carter is a much better choice, but the question is how much?

No you're not, but he is much better on the wing. He's never had the foot speed or 200ft game to play center effectively.
 
Does Glass take really stupid penalties at the worst possible time? I hope no one on this team does now that Pouliot is gone. :laugh:
