I see stuff like this every offseason, and it winds up being false every offseason.
They aren't dime a dozen. When they came here they were. When they left, they were important cogs. But, especially with Boyle, he became too expensive at about $2MM per season...it's too much. Is he replaceable? Of course, but likely not today on the fourth line. He needs to be replaced in relation t0 the team as a whole. Same with Stralman. Boyle isn't as good as Stralman, but recognize he brings something that Stralman doesn't, and if the extra points from him is enough to offset whatever Stralman brings remains to be seen. The complexion and play of this team will be a bit different next season. Perhaps a couple more goals against will be scored, but hopefully that will be offset by a few more goals for. I do look at this team as one that just went to the finals, but at the same time do not say this team, if it stayed together, begins next season in the finals, or even guaranteed a playoff spot. A lot of moving parts in the division and I expect some teams to play better next season, so perhaps a little roster juggling will go a long way.
