Confirmed with Link: JT Miller traded to NYR for Chytil, Mancini, 1st round pick (protected)

I don’t think this team is anywhere near a cup, but you just don’t get star centers for that kind of value any more, especially under contract with a skyrocketing cap.

Team is still 3-4 major moves away from being a competitor, but on paper it’s a no brainer.

We knew they weren’t going to rebuild so in for a penny now I suppose. Get rid of The dead weight and get a blueliner
Dead weight? Chytil? Uh…
Yea let’s ensure that we don’t have a single center who isn’t right on the cusp of aging out of their peak.
Miller is in good shape and will not be top 3 cap issues for the foreseeable future. Absolute monster competitor
I'm kind of sad about this trade, but in fairness I think the cap news from earlier today shifted the value of a huge portion of the league.
Chytil is a beauty but think of it as a hedge against injuries his style and body is just not built for 82+
Don't know why the last thread was locked.
I'm hoping to see Cuylle-Miller-Othmann at some point for one of the grittiest sandpaper lines this team will have seen in ages.
Nut
Watch us get #13 pick this year. Then our 2026 pick becomes a lottery pick because our team will be even more ass next season when JTM blows up on Mika for being soft and shit.
Let’s slow our roll

'Nucks fan here. I'm a bit numb to all of it, right now.

Not too fussed over the return. It is what it is. To be expected.

FWIW, you definitely got the best player in this trade. I loved his passion. He has been everything we could have hoped for since he arrived from TB. Our team just lost the fire in its belly.

Dunno anything bout the D prospect. Hope he's a third pairing guy one day, I guess.

Chytil: Level with me, what are we getting?

It's crazy how much talent this organization lucks into at the misfortune of other teams and we still squander it. Hopefully JTM 2.0 bucks the trend and becomes the chosen one. Pulls a Messier and takes on the leadership reigns to prosperity. Or maybe even chases Mika away to waive his NMC after a season or so.

I like Dorrington's Elite prospects analysis. Sounds like another smart, puck moving D.
The constants in Dorrington’s game are the intelligence across all three zones. Defensively, he eliminates off-puck threats and times his engagements at the moment of least resistance, complementing his robust style. In transition, he steps inside, cuts around forecheckers, and passes to the middle – he’s an advantage creator up the rink. And he’s an instinctual activator, defined by his constant weak-side activation from the point and bolstered by his give-and-go style

I like it for the simple fact alone that JT Miller is a prick (on top of being a good hockey player with a 100pt ceiling) and that’s what we’ve needed for years. Milquetoast and bland core forever. Now we have our prick to lead us.

Chytil, Mancini and a protected first is legitimately pennies on the dollar for a player of JT’s caliber. Vancouver fans thought they were getting some combo of Laf, Schneider, K’Andre and a first maybe Perrault. Half their fans wanted to trade Petterson to keep JT. I personally love Fil but with his health I’m okay with him being the roster piece we moved. I’d bet good money Chytil doesn’t out produce miller at any point in the coming years. Kept our top prospects and got conditions on the first.

This could be a prelude to a Mika trade this summer as well.

Would’ve been a 10/10 if the pick was lower than a first but for me this is a good move.
Miller's absolutely a fantastic player but a majority of us did not believe this.

Rutherford primed the ones who did a week ago when he foreshadowed the trade.

There's a contingent who thought they shouldn't have made this trade without those pieces. Those people still think that.

If you reframed it as "Some Vancouver fans felt that trading a 1C who's recently removed from a 100 point season and decent success matching up against McDavid without getting back some more notable pieces who can make a difference" - that'd be more accurate.

There's absolutely a strong contingent, if not a majority, who felt that this was pretty screwed and is what it is and needed to be done to move on. Which sucks.

Chytil has a lot of potential with the giant caveat "if he can stay healthy"
Joshua-Chytil-Garland will be pure chaos to play against.
Great puck possession, skating through tight places, zone entry, passing, wicked wrist shot. Sad to see Fila go but he also wasn't not going to live up to his full potential only getting 3rd line minutes. I see nothing but upside. "if he can stay healthy"
Adequate 3C with 2C potential.

Mancini can legit play in the NHL. Many of us were shocked when he got sent down but then we remembered Rongos gonna Rongo. Lindgren returned and basically pushed him out. I think that was also when our team started its nose dive.

I feel for Chytil; if he had been able to stay healthy, this trade may not have happened. I wish him the best for the Canucks; I can see a bounce from him like (you know who; plays for Seattle now; are we allowed to mention his name again?).

I liked Mancini, not as a top pair or top 4, but as a useful bottom pair dman who you don't have your heart in your throat when the puck is in your own end. Brannstrom has bounced around; haven't followed him that closely; was highly touted at one time as a free agent from Europe. I assume Dorrington replaces Mancini in Hartford; I have no idea if he has NHL upside; have never seen him play.

With the 2026 draft slated to be better than the 2025, I hope this team wins enough games to avoid having the pick moved to next year.

If JT Miller expedites Zibenjad's and Panarin's exit, Lindgren, then this trade is a home run.

"We need a prick" absolutely! Someone who can stir the pot of shit and get inside our opponents head. Someone who can score but also do those little irritating things that drive opponents crazy. Dont underestimate the value of having a douche on your team, with fire in his belly. The anti Mika.
