Pretty sure both Niemela and Robertson would go in the top half of the first round in a redraft of their years. Knies definitely would as well.

And I believe with his rapid development over the last 1.5 years, he's closer to blue chip status. If he comes over next year to the AHL and kills it, he's definitely a blue chipper, but that remains to be seen.

Leafs really aren't a bad defensive team. Goaltending is questionable but it's too late to fix that in a meaningful way this season.
Respectfully disagree, i'm a Leafs fan, and heading into the playoffs with Dermott/Holl/Liljegren (and to a degree Sandin) as regulars is not even remotely good enough....then possibly without Muzzin?

Isn’t everyone? Usually those are drafted in the top 10-15.

ok, let me elaborate. this starts with a rumour that makes no sense.

the leafs do not have the picks or prospects to acquire miller so i was curious about the rumour not making any sense. canucks are looking to get younger.

i then surveyed the leaf roster and could see nothing younger of value it would make sense for the leafs to move as a centrepiece for miller. i don't foresee the leafs doing a lateral move with an established player, and they have no young up and comers that are credible trade bait for miller.

so then i considered a double trade in which the canucks replace a good leafs roster player with a lesser roster substitute plus trade miller. now the only position i can see the canucks would do that would be rhd, and it would need to be a very good rhd. so then i made a brainfart thinking rielly was rhd and briefly speculated the canucks might move miller plus a rhd to get him, before realizing my mistake.

which leaves me not understanding the rumour. i do not see what the leafs have to offer.

This response doesn't make you 'right' or seem any more educated. Why don't you try to respond with something constructive?
Sure thing!
Saying Nimiela, Knies, Robertson and Amriov are untouchable in a JT Miller trade is easily the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in these boards. Complete Garbage post that isn’t even worth being discussed.

Ok, so which one will you take for Miller?

I’ve said it before, I don’t think it makes sense ultimately for either of our teams to trade with each other. Toronto needs defencemen, we don’t have that to offer. Elliotte said that the Maple Leafs have the prospects to make the deal happen, but he’s not sure if they would want to make the prospects that the Canucks would want available. So basically, both can bases are somewhat right. Maple Leafs don’t want to give up their good prospects, Canucks won’t take any less than that. Where it ends? Who knows.

This is utter nonsense.
The leafs have all their picks aside from a few middle round picks this year, is miller being traded for a 22 4th and 6th?
The leafs with Amirov aside due to health concerns have the 20th 29th and 54th ranked prospects according to THW’s mid season NHL prospects list.
Then looking at the roster itself there’s plenty of cap neutral/positive ballast options depending on what Rutherford is looking for in return.
There’s definitely a fit it’s just as per usual the really over the top fans from both fan bases (and third party fans who have the leafs permanently residing in a corner penthouse rent free in their minds) have over valued one end and under valued another.

Who has ever said any one of them is off limits? Pretty sure every proposal I’ve seen put forth has started with one of those 4 and a 1st.

They didn’t lose in the playoffs to Columbus and Montreal because of their D. It was untimely soft goals by the goaltending and lack of finish from the key contributors.
Their D metrics both traditional and advanced are quite good both regular season and playoffs. All this without Muzzin for the majority of both series

Did you mean that everyone ranked above those leads prospects that you listed would be off the table for Miller? If so that’s not how I interpreted it my apologies.
