Glad Krieder is back. He was the hardest player for the devils to matchup with in the ECF. I have a feeling Nash and him are in for big nights tonight

Kreider is back?
I hope Miller doesn't light it up. DOn't get me wrong, I hope he become a great player for us, but if he now scores let's say 3-5 points in 3 games, the Rangers might feel pressued to keep him up in the NHL and not allow him to develop properly. Torts isn't one to trust the rookies with big minutes and things will get even harder down the road when the fight for the playoff spots begin.
So in the end it's nice the get a glimpse on Miller in the NHL, but I hope he finishes the season in the minors, learns and comes to camp in August to win a spot on the team.

All signs point to it.

Bickel was skating with the defense.
Mashinter sent down to Hartford.
Without Kreider or Callahan that leaves us with 11 forwards dressed.
Kreider is most likely playing.
Be careful with the expectations on this kid. Remember he was a good (but not great) player in the WJC just a few months ago. He hasn't had a great year with CT. He's been a fine player but expecting him to produce at the NHL level or to really even have much of a chance of sticking on this roster is a stretch in my eyes. I'd love to see it happen but I don't expect it at all. MPF24 is definitely right in that Miller is closer to Dubinsky than Kane, I don't get why he's getting heat for that. A lot of guys look great offensively in juniors but have a hard time translating it to the next level.
I like JT Miller a lot, but he's not going to be a high scoring player in this league. Dubinsky was the team's leading scorer not too long ago, I don't even know if Miller will come close. Dubinsky had better PPG at the junior level and wasn't looked at as a crazy talented offensive threat, so I'm not quite sure why people think Miller has been so much better in his development.
Is he playing though?
They returned the undersized Benn Ferriero to the AHL affiliate, sent the newly-acquired Palmieri straight to Hartford and assigned Callahan and Kreider to injured reserve to stay under the NHL’s 23-man roster limit, though after Tuesday’s game, both players will be eligible to return when healthy.

...said that he had to talk with trainer Jim Ramsay to see if Kreider is ready.
Yup.
Miller was always more valuable as a center. He has underrated playmaking skills, he's responsible. The more involved and active he is the better he is.
Clark and Gorton had always said he's a center. I'm sure they weren't overly thrilled with the fact Plymouth liked to use him on the wing. Still think he should have gone to North Dakota. But that's water under the bridge.
Never understood where the "his future is on the wing" stuff came from. It wasn't from the organization, who continually mentioned he is regarded as a center.
Told folks he would be a one-two year player at most. The Rangers and Miller had an accelerated development path for him. When he was drafted he was a more well rounded, more polished player then Kreider was, who needed more time to round out his game.
The plan was put in place for this player before he was drafted. They wanted a player they could control ASAP. He agreed, he wanted an ELC ASAP. That's why he didn't go to North Dakota.
There is nothing about Miller mentally or in his game that suggests he can't handle it. He MAY not be ready to stay up. But he's close.
Recall, in camp last year, he was arguably one of the Rangers better players. And he could have easily made the club then.

This is not directly to you.
What's the difference here? People say that playing in the AHL will hurt kreiders development, but in Millers case,it's totally opposite?
Why?
People are a little sensitive on these boards. The disdain some posters developed for Dubi is incredible. He's only got 4 points in 9 games this year, on a really bad team with literally ZERO first line talents on their roster right now, so let's extrapolate that 9 game sample size and say that he's washed up and will never be a 50 point player again.

I didn't say he'll "never be a 50 point player again" but at the same time some people are using the fact that he increased his production to culminate in a grand total of ONE 50 point season, to try to insinuate that Dubinsky is more than he is.
Dubinsky has only topped 50 once in his career, which is now 5 full NHL seasons long and it doesn't look like he's on that pace this year either.
Dubinsky is what he is.... a 2nd/3rd line grinder type. He is not a plus offensive player. It's very, very clear that Dubinsky is not a consistent 25/25 player and if Miller is, that is great. Dubinsky is likely going to be more a mid-to-high teens goal scorer for the remainder of his prime (next 3-4 years) and there is nothing wrong with that either.
