I think a message was already sent earlier in the season when he didn’t go in the shootout after like 15 shooters. I’m sure he’s aware of how bad he’s been and has talked to Marty about it privately. Not sure why going public should get him another chance if they were going to scratch him before he said that.
I'm pretty sure that was because of his injury, since he grimaced after his attempt and missed 3 games after that one.

A message he sent to himself during media availability is gonna be the fire starter? C’mon.

I'd rather see if it is than just scratch the guy and let that potential fire burn out watching from the press box, when you can achieve the same result a game later if it didn't kick him in the pants.

No one is providing a good reason for why he HAS to be scratched this upcoming game; Dvorak served up two pizzas in the same game and ended up on the 5-on-3 and starting 3-on-3 overtime, hardly the time to start using Dach as a precedent.

Should fit right in, lazy, vanilla and can't skate. What more can you ask for?
Not the biggest fan of Roy, but one has to recognize this young player's talents.

I have been around this game for over sixty years as a player, coach, team manager, league convener and now the Executive Director of a large amateur sport organization. There are few truths about hockey that are immutable. One of them is that you can't teach scoring. There is no shortage of examples of players who have every attribute you are looking for in a player: size, skating, physicality, desire and high compete level - who just can't score. It's very frustrating when you're coaching or managing such players as you continue to ask yourself: why can't this kid score?

Roy has the innate ability to score. He anticipates the play and he finds the open ice that allows him the space to use his elite hand skills. He has a quick release and he sees the net, as Gordie Howe liked to say, with his stick, not just his eyes.

Roy's limitations in his skating ability and compete level are obvious. But if self-motivated, Roy has the talent to succeed at the next level. He is much stronger on the puck than many here (including this writer) thought. He protects the puck and his stick well. If placed in the right situation ( i.e. with the right line mates) Roy should be able to contribute offensively.

Roy will never be a play driver, he lacks the skating speed necessary to do so. But Montreal has a host of young forwards (Hage, Beck, Demidov, Tuch, etc.) that can, and will, in the future, drive the play.

Let's give this kid a chance to see what he can do. With his elite hand skills and offensive vision he may well surprise a lot of us.

I'd keep Pezz over RHP.
He brings 4th line energy and toughness.
RHP has brought nothing since his hot streak 1st call-up, constantly injured and we can't afford more small bottom 6 players.
Come on man...Pezz brings nothing. Nobody is scared of him. And the 4th line has been WAY more energetic with Heineman and Condotta than with whatever Pezzetta brings. On top of his stupid penalties 'cause he can't follow the pace.

He's not playing smart - but strong disagree that it is from no effort.
If anything he is putting too much pressure from large contract.

He is not moving his feet at all and is not forechecking, relative to the rest of the team, he is definitely putting in the least amount of effort and has multiple benchings because of it.

You may be right and perhaps he isn't consciously playing lazy and is just struggling with his confidence but the optics are terrible as he certainly looks lazy out there.

This is where someone like Suzuki maybe needs to be a little more vocal and challenge him to assert himself and drive the play instead of floating in the weeds as he has been doing.

LOL! Good thing they called Roy up for THAT! I frickin told ya all. He played 11:30 on the 4th line. But I guess they “got a look at him” as some posters suggested. This move did nothing but screw Laval tonight. Great asset management!

They’ve got a perfectly good 4th liner who’s been sitting out for a bloody month and they call up Roy? It makes zero sense. I love a lot of the moves and picks they’ve made, but their roster moves are very confusing. Leave your farm team alone unless you have injuries. You’re rebuilding and need guys to develop in a winning environment. Now, once again, they’ll be yo-yoing Roy because Laine will be back very soon and they have to do something with RHP very soon too.

I have to admit I find many of the personnel decisions made this season as disjointed as the play.

I remember people on here putting Roy on the 2nd line. Pumping his tires... good times!
And?

I’d have put him there. Solid player who needs talented linemates to produce. That’s how you develop prospects successfully.

Why the hell would you put this guy with someone like Jake Evans? Do you want to develop him into a Brandon Prust?
