Agree. For all the developpment they need, cuz they need to improve in faster skating and quick time reaction in the nhl level, the best choices for next call-ups are ABB (he's fast and have more nhl speed experience), maybe Engstrom but later, or in desperate need. Gignac could be called, he doesn't have to improve, he's already old. A little snif of nhl could boost Davidson later at end of season, but in the meantime he seems to lack skating speed. And Condotta another choice of call-up.once again not a fan of some of the choices they make regarding development. I know when Roy was called up he said he was having a great season and I know that Vincent said something along the lines that when the Habs contacted him, he showed them a video of Roy fighting for the puck.
But if you watch my vids, you see him skating half ass much of the time, granted his stats 100% look the part, but the effort wasn't there consistently and to me that's a bad message to send as it sounds like Roy isn't getting whatever message they want him to get, so why bring him up as a reward if he's not getting the message?
That said Laval has some really tough games upcoming with the Marlies so they badly need Roy as him and Davidson seem to be the only ones that can put the puck in the net with any consistency.
Roy and Mailloux are both in tough spots in their development, as both have the production but it's the holes in their games that show they need more time in the AHL.
After tdl, there will be openings. There isn't much injuries this year except Laine. So what’s the solution? Every team in the league gives their most productive AHL players a cup of tea when a roster spot opens up.
I have a hard time believing a handful of nhl games ruins prospects.
edit. Right now the nhl team is a bad place. Depressing to lose all the time. Mailloux, Roy, Davidson and co need to stay ahl and keep on having a winning team. Best school of hockey there.
