Have to admit that MM did his country proud tonight. He somehow was able to do what he does best. Can't ever take away what he did tonight. He should be very proud.
Yup, both him and Matthews had a couple of assists and Marner had that great GWG earlier on. The only disappointment was Nylander, but he will turn it on when it matters for us.

I am genuinely very happy for him. I've been a staunch critic but he was excellent when it really mattered and stepped up big time. Out of the Leafs contingent he needed this performance more than anyone else, he has been shit on mercilessly and this will hopefully be a confidence boost. Definitely made me proud to be Canadian tonight!

He scored the clutch goal against the Sweden his was good in the other two games . His worst game was against Finland and he was clutch again tonight!
Brother he did but it was a 3 on 3 goal he still scored but it doesn’t make me feel any better todays game gives hope

Anyone who claims this was a glorified all star game either wasn't watching or is just full of shit.

Tonight gave Leaf fans some hopw that Matthews and Marner might be able to get something done this playoffs.
It’s actually funny some of the takes after the game he played a great game but some of the slicc comments are as if the critiquing wasn’t warranted did he play a good tourney prior to today like let’s be honest he was a beast today and we have something to hold on to but everyone who questioned magic Mitch did so well within reason keep it positive hopefully both Mitch and matthews can build on great gold medal game showings

Haven’t seen this in a while 😭😭😭😭😭

Whaaaaat? The two power houses made it to the final did you think it would go any other way nylander was on a line with a player having a horrible year and another one that was an injury replacement marner and Matthews had great games today let’s enjoy that but prior to this game nylander was the better of the 3 he can now revert to being the 3 best in this tourney but I don’t know if I agree with your disappointment take🥴 it’s gonna get hot in here soon let’s enjoy Mitch performance and team canadas win

Leafs fans are frustrated enough for 55+ years, I get that as I watched them win in ‘67 myself. Hockey is an unpredictable sport. Not fair fans blame culminatiion of events since ‘67 on Mitch Marner. Too bad some of them chose to sully up the GDT with their rubbish. I only care to see the Leafs win.

Good on Cooper too, he recognized that Marner was on and increased his ice time second half, put him with McDavid again. That first set up to Bennett was also a thing of beauty, drew two defenders and went against the grain with a spot on pass, very few can even see.
I was surprised Bennett scored there. Hellebuyck probably wants that back.

Hahaha, I think him and Marchand have always had a special bond. Marchand just loves ragging on him. I think everyone has that one friend you always shit on, like your little bro. Glad for all our players. I hope this experience helps them in pursuit of winning the cup.
Could be interesting the dynamic between Marner and Matthews going forward .
Probably nothing but Matthews sure looked like a sulky little Bit#ch in the handshake line

The biggest difference in Marner game last night? Last night? he was pro-active. He was pretty agressive on forechecking and didn't wait the play come to him. He took risk, forced mistake from team usa and its pay off. He was all over the ice tonight

First 3 he was passive and didn't really go on forechecking, just waiting to be in good defensive situation without never taking any kind of risk. So had be pretty invisible

Mitch was absolutely outstanding last night. Got better and better as the game went on. It's like something clicked and he knew he could be a difference.

I hope this elevates his confidence and ego on the ice to a new level.

It wasn't even a physical game. It was just a night where binnington robbed the USA. The game itself was tight checking but not a hard hitting game.

They were for told to tone it down and not get hurt. The real game was in Montreal.

It was not a very physical game. The real game in MTL is SCF. This was the tones down game after the owners cried about the injuries. Nobody even attempted to check Marner

He played well tonight. But, call me when he plays like that in the playoffs.

Was it me or was that just a tight checking game compared to MTL. Didn't feel like a SCG game at all

Scored the OT GWG to get Canada into the championship match, and then set up the game tying and OT game winning goal in the biggest game of international hockey in a decade. Clutch player. :wg:

Wimpy checking game. Defensive. BINNINGTON WON THAT GAME
