Roy had broken fingers at his 2nd camp and still flashed some good stuff despite playing on the 4th line with scrubs. I don't think it's a fair comparison. Had Roy not had broken fingers, he probably would have been given more opportunities.

But at the same time, the Habs didn't need to evaluate him like they did the others, he already had a development plan with the Phoenix that they approved.
didnt know he had broken fingers, when did that happen?

People are writing him off too quickly.
I was at the game yesterday and I found he was really dominant on the ice, by far the best player on either team.

He was creating scoring chances every times he was stepping on the ice. He could have score 4-5 goals with a little bit of luck. He was stealing the puck from Gatineau defenceman creating turnovers several times.

I know it's just one game but I was really impressed with his efforts yesterday.

He plays LW right? what type of players would compliment him most? what role would he be best suited in?

Why are people comparing Suzuki and Roy? Itd be nice if Roy was another 100 pts player but the road to success has way more finish line than just this one.

Anybody who has roots in Beauce and has a social life wouldn't compare Suzuki to Roy in the first place, solely based on their maturity and temper.

There's a reason why the latter slipped to the 5th round, we'll leave it at that.

He was LW yesterday yes and Gauthier was RW. I believe Roy need someone really strong in the defensive zone with a lot of speed to create space for him. Once in the O zone, he's able to create plays by himself, I would put him with a center like Beck and a hard working winger like Heineman, 2 guys that can score with pretty hard wrist shot.

Roy-Beck-Heineman would be a terrific 2nd/3rd line for the future I believe.

If we can draft a top center in the next draft, It would be amazing offensively.

Well done. I agree 100%. This is how you get the best results from Roy. He's not going to do all the dirty work but he will capitalize where he can with two players like that.

His ceiling is middle 6 winger IMO. Sometimes 2nd and 3rd lines are close but one listed after another.

This season matters less than next season. Turing pro and playing in the AHL with less time and space with more physical players will be his biggest test.

I hope we have multiple talent filter into Laval next season. It's lacking and if Roy is able to develop well, he will need talent to play with

I agree.
I don't even think the kid this season started at his 100%. He'll most likely warm up soon and end the season with 60+ goals and 130+ pts.
I hope he'll be really good in Laval.

Roy is warming up now. I doubt he will be able to catch Dumais, but he can certainly still finish 2nd in the points.

I hope Laval gets injected with a few good prospects next season so they can work together in their development. It's important that talent plays with talent IMO.

Regardless of how many points Dumais or Roy put up this year in the Q, Roy will be better. Dumais is going to have a rough time once he turns pro.

I know Dumais's game very well.... Mooseheads season ticket holder. If he ends up a top 6F in the NHL, he has a long way to go in development and that turning pro hurdle is going to be tough to overcome.

It also applies to Roy but he has a better frame to develop with. Both players are not going to create time and space in the AHL/NHL with their current skating.

Well said, couldn’t agree more.

I still think Roy’s upside is similar to a Toffoli, which considering where he was drafted would be amazing.

Let’s see how it shakes out.

i gave my observations on Dumais on the prospect's board (and got bashed). I have seen him a few times but not as much as you. His IQ, vision and passing are great but he disappears in his zone and traffic (except front of net). He got pushed around quite a bit yesterday and i do know if he will have the same success at higher levels.

I think he has a lot of skill and good hockey IQ. But if this kid is going to be a top 6F in the NHL, he has a long development road and needs to put on a lot of muscle and also improve skating. Skating is alright for Q standards but certainly not AHL/NHL yet.

A couple of days ago I think Tyson reminded me I had said Jason Robertson wasn't making the NHL because he couldn't skate. Lol. Oops.

So I will say that while there are exceptions, the skating does have to be there no matter what else a player brings. And for sure Roy's chances of making it increase if the skating improves. Skating coach in off season please.

We were talking about Dumais (not Roy). I think both players skating can use some improvement but Roy's size and frame and style of game gives him a good shot at making the NHL IMO. I think he is great at capitalizing on chances and the limited open space he will get. However, he will need a good center to do most of the work. That type of winger.

Not everyone can improve skating from age 18-21 range. We fell into that trap with KK remember? Exceptions to the rule but the exception is not the rule.
